'You will hear good music in thugs of hindostan'

Music composing trio Shankar Ehsaan Loy have remained popular for a decade-and-a-half from Dil Chahta Hai to Dil Dhadakne Do. The trio talk about their about their recent and forthcoming projects, their new venture to encourage different music, and how they synergise their energies as a band.The music of Mirzya has been appreciated but the film hasn’t done well. As composers, does that bother you?
Shankar: We really felt sad when the film didn’t do well. The music has been appreciated worldwide and let’s be honest: the fact is some musical pieces go beyond the film. We are working for the last 20 years now, and this has not happened for the first time. For example, the music of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom was super-duper hit but the film didn’t do well. There are many films where the music goes ahead of the film.
What are your forthcoming projects?
Rock On!! 2 is going to release soon and then we are doing Yash Raj’s Thugs of Hindostan with Amitabh Bachchan and Aamir Khan. You will hear good music in the film. The work is in progress so it’s too early to talk about the genre

Katrina Kaif to be a part of Aamir Khan's Thugs of Hindostan


Katrina Kaif is on a roll these days ever since she has made a debut on Instagram. Anything and everything about her is bound to make headlines. There were rumours that Katrina's Tiger Zinda Hai co-star Salman recommended her name to Aamir Khan for Thugs of Hindostan.


Now, a little birdie has informed us that Katrina, indeed, is a part of Aamir Khan's much-awaited project. Not just Katrina, but Aamir's Dangal girl Fatima Sana Shaikh will also be onboard with the actor for the film.

Talking about Fatima's character, director Vijay Krishna Acharya said, "The role of the girl is pivotal to the film so it was crucial for us to find the perfect fit. Through a rigorous round of auditions and action workshops, we found in Fatima a truly dedicated actor and a gifted performer of the action. We are very happy to have found the perfect girl for our film."

On how she got the role, a source revealed to a leading daily, "Nobody was surprised when Fatima Sana Shaikh was signed opposite Aamir Khan in Thugs Of Hindostan. While a few top actresses including Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and even Vaani Kapoor were in talks to do the film, most of them, save Vaani, weren’t so keen once they heard the fee for the film, especially when Aamir was being given his market price and more. The actresses had loved the script as it revolved around the female protagonist taking revenge but the talks fizzled out when they realised that Aditya Chopra wanted them to sign the film almost for free. There was a discussion whether Vaani or Fatima suited the role better — the latter was Aamir’s choice and the former Adi’s. Eventually, Aamir had his way."


Apart from Fatima, Amitabh Bachchan will also been with Aamir in Thugs of Hindostan. Aamir Khan, on his Facebook, had earlier written, "Finally, the moment I've been waiting for has come... to work with my icon, Mr. Bachchan! Thanks Adi, Victor, for 'Thugs of Hindostan'. I'm too thrilled to be working with the actor I have admired all of my life. Shoot starts early next year, and the release has been locked for Diwali 2018.

Director Vijay Krishna Acharya is all set to kickstart shooting for Thugs of Hindostan from June 1. The movie stars actors Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh in the lead role.


A fortnight before the film goes on-floors, we got our hands on a photo of Big B and Aamir reading the script along with Victor. The talented trio is sitting at one of the rehearsal studios of Yash Raj Films and seems to be engrossed in their prep.

Shooting to start in Malta from June 5th.

Scheduled for Xmas 2018 release.

Will be dubbed in 9 languages.

Will see the widest release ever for an Indian movie.
