rlse day thanne medichu...vayichu pakuthiyil koodutal ayi.....hasn't quite matched my expectations...The portions set in Delhi are fine...though sheer originality of GOST is nowhere to be seen...she hasnt shied away from making political statements here either..so controversies are sure to follow..

some reviews have gone on to say that GOST itself was over-rated...

i really liked that book...does have its share of flaws...jhumpa lahiri suits taste more...kureachu interesting books release ayitund recently..Bijness Woman by Tanuja Chandra and Anees salim's..The small town sea..

for me Rohinton Mistry is the best. if there is any other who has captured a particular fabric of our culture & explored it, it would be Mistry.
yep. Anees Salim is good. maybe a malayalee writer writing so urban so good is definitely a kick.

Arundati Roy’s attempt at fiction, after a gap of almost 20 years was looked upon with great expectations, but book despite being more rooted and ambitious is a tad underwhelming. The novel starts off pretty well, the author chooses quite bravely to craft her story around a transgender. These portions, which are further elevated by the mouth-wateringly authentic description of Old Delhi, prove to the most memorable one in the whole book. The tempo snags, when the drama moves to Kashmir and plays out in the manner of a love triangle. Unlike God of Small Things, the main characters in these portions are underwritten except for General Amrik Singh and fail to connect with you emotionally. There are anecdotes about Kashmir that are extremely affecting, but after a point, author seems to be only interested at making political statements , rather than telling a coherent story. Even with all its flaws it is a decent option for those who love read books centred on India, but do lower your expectations
