CASTING COUP

A noted film corporation is willing to spend a bomb for a venture that has Rajini’s son-in-law serenading Kamal’s daughter!

Watching Superstar Rajinikanth and Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan in their seventies hits Apoorva Raagangal, Moondru Mudichu, 16 Vayathinile and Avargal still gives Tamil cinema lovers a high. Though both actors hadn’t attained the dizzying heights in the 70s as they later did, just watching Rajinkanth and Kamal Haasan, whose styles of acting are very diverse, is enough to give a Tamil film aficionado a high.
There has been constant talk and media speculation that Kamal and Rajini will come together if their mentor K Balachander asks them. Or even if someone as renowned as Mani Ratnam expresses his desire to make a film with these stalwarts. That seems like a pipe dream now.
However, cinema lovers are excited at the possibility of watching Dhanush, Rajinikanth’s elder son-in-law and a National Awardwinning actor, romancing the light-eyed, fair-skinned Shruti, Kamal Haasan’s elder daughter.
Says a trade source, “The closest one can get to seeing Rajini and Kamal’s kith interacting will be watching Dhanush romance Shruti in a new film that will be directed by Aishwarya Dhanush. Selvaraghavan (Dhanush’s elder brother) is rumoured to be getting a script ready. This is considered to be the biggest casting coup of the season and a leading film corporation has apparently offered a premium price for this project that may be made under Aishwarya’s home banner itself.’’ We at CT also think that this duo will ignite the screen in their new film.

Kamal back after worldwide location hunt

It seems 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan is back in Chennai after a whirlwind tour of US, Canada and European countries.

He had gone on a tour to look for locations for his Viswaroopam.
The buzz is that Viswaroopam an action adventure directed by Kamal will be shot entirely in different exotic locations around the globe.

And it will be Kamal's costliest production with the budget touted maround Rs 100 Cr!
The shoot of Viswaroopam is likely to start by the middle of August. A 45 day initial shoot will commence in which Kamal and certain other supporting actors mainly from Bollywood will take part.
The heroine of the film is yet to be firmed up. Some top Bollywood actors names are being tossed around, as talks are going on to get firm dates.

Kamal Hassan has been globetrotting in the USA and across Europe. He wanted to finalize ideal locations for Viswaroopam himself. It is going to be an action packed film made on a mammoth budget of 100 crores. The cast and crew are yet to be finalized.
The shoot will begin some time in August, with Kamal's scenes being shot first. As for the heroine and supporting cast, we hear that Kamal is looking at some big names in Bollywood. Sonakshi Sinha who was supposed to be the heroine, has left the project, so Kamal is looking around for someone else to step in. There are a lot of volunteers but Kamal is still to make up his mind.

It is well-known in Kollywood that Kamal Haasan and dramatist and comedian ‘Crazy’ Mohan share a very good rapport. In fact ‘Crazy’ Mohan has written the dialogues for Kamal films like Michael Madhana Kamarajan, Avvai Shanmughi and Apoorva Sagodharargal.
So, when ‘Crazy’ Mohan’s stage drama Chocolate Krishna is completing its 400th show, he wanted Kamal Haasan for the show and the star has graciously agreed to felicitate the entire troupe. The function will be held at the Narada Gana Sabha on July 24th.

Priya in Viswaroopam?

The buzz surrounding Kamal Haasan’s Viswaroopam is getting interesting by the day. Be it for the news that Selvaraghavan and Sonakshi Sinha opted out of the film or Kamal helming the project and planning to rope in Deepika Padukone and Isha Sharvani for important roles, the film has always been in the limelight. Now, the latest we hear is that actress Priya Anand might be playing one of the lead roles in it.
According to sources in the industry, Priya, who’s worked in films like Vaamanan and 180 in Tamil, was approached by the unit recently for a prominent role. It’s reported that the actress even gave an audition and did a screen test early this week for her character. While the details of her character have been kept under wraps, we understand that it’s one of the female leads in the film.
When CT contacted Priya, the actress declined to comment on the development.

Where have the heroines gone?



Sonakshi is out, Sonam hasn't even been approached. Kamal Haasan’s search for a Bollywood beauty to play his young love interest in Viswaroopam continues. Sona neither confirms nor denies whether she is doing the project but her dates for the next few months have been allotted to Joker, Race-2 and Rowdy Rathore. There’s no way she can fit Viswaroopam in her schedule, say sources. Vidya Balan turned down Kamal’s offer, too. And though rumours say that Sonam was also considered, she hasn’t even approached by the veteran actor. Asin who romanced Kamal in Dasavatharam has given bulk dates in August to Rohit Shetty for Bol Bachchan.
Sources close to Kamal say that some members of the actor’s team are still huntimg for a Hindi film heroine to fill in Sonakshi’s shoes. Isha Sharwani, the other B-Towner in Kamal’s film, is rumoured to be playing Kamal's sister in the film.
