The short film is a spoof of 80's movies. The references are too many.
    Mortal combat
    Tron
    Thor
    Arcade games
    Tongue in cheek dialogues
    Shaolin temple and Kung Fu
    Vikings
    Dinosaurs
    Anime
    Time travel
    HAL from 2001 Space Odessey
    Tail end for sequel

Even the making, shots, dialogues fit into the spoof and its all in 30 minutes. Quite hilarious and worth your time if you are into the references above.
The short film was shown in the Directors' Fortnight section at Cannes.
    Its available in Youtube.

MIDNIGHT SUN is a romantic tearjerker about 17-year-old Katie Price (Bella Thorne), sheltered at home since childhood with a rare genetic condition, a life-threatening sensitivity to sunlight. Having only her father Jack (Rob Riggle) for company, Katie's world opens up after dark when she ventures outside to play her guitar. One night, her dreams come true when she’s noticed and asked out by her longtime crush Charlie (Patrick Schwarzenegger), whom she’s secretly watched from her bedroom window for years. As they embark on nightly summer excursions, Katie’s risk to sunlight grows and she’s presented with the gut-wrenching dilemma of whether she can live a normal life with her newfound soul mate.

A wonderful discussion with all five nominees for the DGA best director award.

    Christopher Nolan (Dunkirk)
Guillermo del Toro (The Shape of Water)
Martin McDonagh (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri)
    Greta Gerwig (Lady Bird)
    Jordan Peele (Get Out)

    They discuss the following topics.
    - What do they do on the set? Do they sit behind the monitor or work along with actors on the set?
    - How do they move from being a writer to becoming a director on set?
    - How did they conceive and make the Opening scene?
    - Casting
    - Rehearsal
    - What happens when planning goes wrong? Does it result in something better?
    - Best and worst moments on set
    - How did the movie change them?

    Its very insightful.

BE WARNED - IT IS 3 HOURS LONG :)
