They will enjoy any third buffoonery crap from their favorite star (eg: CT, L&G, Peruchazhi etc) but when it turns to other starts', they will turns to be a world class critic and never accept. Most possibly when you venture out to watch Director Anil Radhakrishna Menon's second movie with an interesting title ' Saptamarshi Thaskaraha', you would already know a few things to start with. You may know that it's the story about a robbery and that it has 7 robbers who would meet for a mission. And that each of them has a back story etc.
The first one hour of the movie does not add much to the above cues that you already know. That is a concern because everything seems known and expected. At interval, you may feel quite an average fare or tad above that.
The 7 stories of each of the gang seems almost a drag. Even after the interval proceedings are more or less in the same pace until the last one hour of the movie. It's here in the last hour of the movie that it slowly gathers pace and rises to completion. The final twist is quite predictable but still decently done.
Direction by Anil Radhakrishnan Menon still shows lots of promise. The premise is quite fresh in Malayalam and that helps. But it feels like quite an elementary heist movie with much to be explored. Camera by Jayesh is good. Editing could have done better with the length. Music and background score have its ups and downs.
Prithviraj puts up a decent show but he is not needed for this role. The same almost goes for Asif as well. Casting seems to have been over done. Also, one may ask why the 7 robbers when 1-2 look don't seem indispensable.
To sum up, 'Saptamarshi Thaskaraha' works in an above average way mainly due to the freshness in its premise and the last one hour of the movie. Keep your expectations in check and you should find it an ok watch.
