Movie : Bangalore Days
30/5/14 PVR Lulu
Review
-----------
The author of this review quite expected a 'Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara' rehash with Malayalam elements amply throwed in, while entering to watch Director Anjali Menon's 'Bangalore Days'. A positive surprise was always welcome. And what a surprise it was!! 'Bangalore Days' is swash buckling movie, that will live with you for so long after the theaters. Hearty Congratulations, Anjali Menon.
The story of 3 cousin turned friends and the characters in their lives, make up the movie but the script has risen beyond such a simple premise. There is no space to review this movie as halves, because it more or less maintains the same graph, except for a small lag here or there in second half. Second half is more emotionally loaded but its more of the feel good sentiments.
'Bangalore Days' just rocks in almost all departments. Be it the script, direction, making, performances, camera and background score. Among the performances, its too close to call between the leading men - Fahad, Nivin and Dulquer. But this reviewer would just peg Fahad's performance a few inches forward due to its subtle underplay, depth, graph and completeness. Nivin would come in a close second with a comic, spirited and energetic performance in the first half, which almost put all others to the background till then. But finally, the most ardent love story of all, the fulfillment in the climax and the personal connect may lie with Dulquer. Hence, all 3 of them just match space to space. they light up the screen when they come together with some friction and chemistry. Kudos to Anjali Menon once again!.
Nazriya Nazim repeats her 'Om Shanthi Oshana' act once again. Parvathy has a good character to play and she does well. Isha Talwar is reduced to a mere caricature of sorts. Nithya has a guest appearance.
Negatives could be that its a little bit over sentimental for some with extra mush and certain events which seem logically flimsy. Also, only one of all the songs is worth remembering.
So, its time to get all your friends, family and the ones whom you love the most and head to the theatres to watch this one. Its the closest we have got in Malayalam recently to a memorable 'friendship' movie. Come and Feel (Very) Good!!
Rating - 4/5
Verdict - A True Blockbuster
