"Maldini was 40 when he finished and Costacurta was another one so it can be done... it depends on how much Scholes and Giggs enjoy it and whether they stay clear of injuries. Scholes is more susceptible to injuries than Ryan, but if he stays clear, he has a chance."
Maldini and Costacurta were defenders , they can and they were playing in the Italian league. Scholes/Giggs are playing in the midfield position and are playing in a more physical league than Serie A. May be 1 or maximum 2 years , that will be the end of these legends. Last season Giggs were exceptional , this season it looks like Scholes is the one.

    United pile on Hammers woe

Visitors fail to score as United land Old Trafford triumph

West Ham's dismal start to the Premier League season continued as they suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester United.
The Hammers were denied their first points of the campaign by the Red Devils as they unleashed a commanding triumph in front of the Old Trafford crowd to condemn the visitors to their third successive league loss on Saturday.
The hosts opened the scoring courtesy of a deserved Wayne Rooney penalty in the first half following a Jonathan Spector foul on Ryan Giggs.
Nani built on that score five minutes after the break, flying into the box and dodging Hammers stopper Danny Gabbidon before firing a terrific finish past a helpless Robert Green.
United then sealed the victory courtesy of a Dimitar Berbatov strike with twenty minutes to go as the Bulgarian acrobatically scissor-kicked a Nani pass into the net.

    Fans are not United :

MANCHESTER UNITED have been warned fans are turning their backs on Old Trafford.

The club have failed to sell all their season tickets for the first time in a generation.
Duncan Drasdo of the Independent Manchester United Supporters Association claims it is a sign of discontent with owner Malcolm Glazer.
He said: "We have clearly reached a tipping point in the Glazers' ownership.
"Up until this season, they increased ticket prices aggressively every year and could get away with it because the loyal fans they forced out were replaced by others still prepared to pay the increased price.
"However, this season, despite a ticket price freeze and an unprecedented marketing campaign, there are still thousands of season tickets and hospitality packages unsold.
"The failure to sell out season tickets is very significant as the Glazers depend on an excess of demand over supply to exert control over supporters."
United sold 51,800 of the 54,000 allocation in the 76,000-capacity ground, which chief executive David Gill insists is good.
The Glazers have saddled the club with £717million debt since taking over five years ago.
There has been a lack of investment in the squad and last season that showed as they lost the title and went out of the Champions League in the last eight.
There has been a £25m outlay on three players this year but a large chunk of the £80m Ronaldo sale from last year remains unspent.
Gill said: "We've sold more season tickets than the capacity of most Premier League grounds and our executive seat sales are on track in a different market."
But Drasdo added: "Other clubs have sold out under the same economic conditions so clearly there are other factors."

Default Scunthorpe 2 Man Utd 5

Holders Manchester United came from behind to overcome brave Scunthorpe 5-2 at Glanford Park.
Josh Wright gave Scunthorpe a shock lead on 19 minutes with a stunning effort from the edge of the box, but Darron Gibson drew the visitors level four minutes with a sublime lobbed finish.
Chris Smalling gave the Premier League side the lead for the first time on 36 minutes with his first goal for the club and Michael Owen added a third four minutes after the break.
Park Ji-Sung made it 4-1 on 54 minutes and Owen netted his 199th goal in English football on 71 minutes before Martyn Woolford netted a last-minute consolation for the home side
