Mascherano to hand Hodgson transfer request:
Argentina captain Javier Mascherano will inform new Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson in the next 48 hours that he wants to leave Anfield.
Hodgson has expressed confidence that Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard will stay after opening talks with him since his return from the World Cup. But his optimism over Gerrard's future will be tempered by the news that there appears no changing the mind of influential holding midfielder Mascherano.
"Javier is looking, for sure, to leave Liverpool," A well placed source told Soccernet. "There is no doubt that at the moment he wants to go. Await developments, as Javier has made up his mind."
The only reason Mascherano might stay would be if the clubs interested in him fail to meet Liverpool's valuation.
Barcelona have long been linked with Mascherano but the financial situation at the Nou Camp is far from stable. Inter Milan are looking the most likely destination as Rafa Benitez is keen to be reunited with his hard tackling midfield dynamo.
Barcelona FC Needs Financial Aid
“What we need right now, is a financial aid to boost the amount of cash flow in our Club” – said FC Barcelona President – Sandro Rosell.
Reports have confirmed that Barcelona is negotiating a loan of 150 million Euros because the club failed to pay some of its players. Obviously the club is facing some heavy duty cash shortage and the Catalan Regional Radio already confirmed this rumor on Wednesday, through an exclusive interview with Sandro Rosell.
Rosell said that some players of the club have not been paid and we just found out that the club is facing immense load of financial debts and a negative cash flow. Although, the club hasn’t declared bankruptcy and Rosell has been assuring people that the crisis at hand is only short term.
David Villa – Famous Spanish Striker was signed by Barcelona on May 19, for 40 million Euros. Villa has 32 goals to his credit, during the last game season. Rosell informed the Catalan Regional Radio, about the ongoing negotiations with different groups of banks; and the monetary loan is expected to be endorsed soon.
As per the previous records, Barcelona used to make 120 million Euros on annual basis, mainly through different TV deals with Mediapro. – A prominent Shareholder in the Spanish TV Channel La Sexta. Apart from side deal with Mediapro, Barcelona Club also rakes in 30 to 35 million Euros through its long line of sports accessories.
If the financial injury to Barcelona is going to remain there for a long time, then the club will start losing its valued players. Already, we have seen the departure of Yaya Toure to Manchester City, only because he made up his mind to leave on July 2.

Messi eyes Cesc return
Argentinian admits Fabregas return would be 'special'
Barcelona star Lionel Messi says being reunited with Cesc Fabregas at the Camp Nou would be 'special'.
Arsenal midfielder Fabregas has been the subject of constant transfer speculation as Barca appear keen to take the 23-year-old back to Catalunya.
The 23-year-old began his career at Barcelona but moved to North London when he was just 16, and has proved a real success at the Emirates.
Pep Guardiola has already added David Villa to his ranks this summer, and Messi is hoping Fabregas can join the Primera Liga champions as well.
"I would like to play with Cesc again because I know him like (Gerard) Pique
(from the youth team)," he told Sport.
"We shared many things at that moment, when we coincided in Barca's youth team, and I know what he can give on the pitch.
"We're in contact. We speak and sometimes we send each other messages.
"He wants to come to Barcelona and we're all waiting to see what will happen.
I hope he ends up coming and that we can play together again.
Together again
"Nobody imagined that one day we could all be together in Barcelona's first team, especially when Cesc and (Gerard) Pique left.
"For us to be together again would be special, a lovely situation for those of us that were there back then."
Like Fabregas, Pique left the Camp Nou as a youngster to join Arsenal's Premier League rivals Manchester United.
Pique has since returned though, and Messi believes it would be a similar feeling if Fabregas were to go back.
He added: "It would be special to be reunited with Cesc in the same team, in the same way that it happened with Pique when he returned from his spell at Manchester United."
