With the popularity of Mohanlal and Mammootty on the wane, the Malayalam film industry is looking forward to new young talent. But that's not to say the new talent won't be judged by the standards set by Malayalam film's idols.
Difficult though the task is, it will not be impossible for these newcomers - and some not so new - to carve their own niche. Here is the new crop of talents who will be the future of Malayalam cinema.
Prithviraj has already been anointed as the most likely replacement to the superstars. His rise has been slow and steady, but he is clearly a performer and has star charisma.
