OnePlus 2 to be launched in India on July 28, nine new service centres to be opened

OnePlus has understood that India is one of its most important markets, and will stay the same going forward. The company has just sent out invites for launch of the OnePlus 2 on July 28 in the country, which will take place one day after the global launch. The global OnePlus 2 launch will take place at 7:30 AM IST on July 28, while the company will host an India specific event at 12 pm on July 28th for the country’s audience.



The company has also announced that it has opened up nine new service centres in the country to help serve its customers better. These new service centres have been opened up in Bangalore, Chennai, Cochin, Hyderabad, Pune, Mumbai (2 of them), New Delhi, and Kolkata. This has made the total list of service centres of the company in the country go up to 45.

OnePlus has tied up with Regenersis to provide a strong after-sales network. OnePlus had earlier announced that they will provide additional 3 months of warranty to every customer whose smartphone has stayed in a service centre for more than 15 days. This will be applicable for the OnePlus One as well as the OnePlus 2.

The OnePlus 2 is being touted as the 2016 ‘flagship killer’ by OnePlus, and the company is leaving no stone unturned to create hype around the smartphone. The smartphone has been confirmed to come with a Snapdragon 810 chipset, 4GB LPDDR4 RAM, a fingerprint scanner, USB Type-C port, and a dual-SIM card slot.

It has been an year since Xiaomi’s entry into the Indian smartphone market, and as a part of their first anniversary, the company has launched a 32GB variant of the Mi 4i as well as the company’s e-commerce online shopping app in the country, as we reported yesterday. The Xiaomi Mi 4i 32GB is priced at Rs. 14,999, which makes it compete with the company’s own smartphone, the Xiaomi Mi 4 (16GB). Apart from the storage capacity, there’s no change between 16GB and 32GB variants of the Mi 4i. iPhone sales in India grew by 93 percent in quarter ending June 2015

Apple has just announced that it sold 47.5 million iPhones in the quarter which ended on June 27, 2015 globally. Apple has been riding high on the back of strong iPhone sales in India and it has been reported that India witnessed an increase of 93 percent (in the same quarter year-on-year) in the iPhone sales with China reporting an 87 percent increase in the sales.

The figure of 47.5 million units represents an increase of 35 percent in the sales. Apple has further stated that the emerging markets grew by 79% to almost $18 billion which represented 35% of the revenues. Foxconn is even considering manufacturing the iPhone in India and is in with discussions with the Indian government.

“iPhone sales more than doubled in Germany, Korea, Malaysia, and Vietnam. We’re up over 85% in Greater China and in India, and increased more than 45% in several countries including Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Turkey,” This is what Luca Maestri, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer had to say at the company’s financial meeting.

One of the key reasons for the growth of iPhone sales in India has been the aggressive marketing that Apple has been undertaking for the Indian audiences which include buybacks, EMIs and other offers. The older iPhones have been getting numerous price cuts which have fuelled their sales and even the iPhone 6 twins get offers every now and then.
