The BlackBerry Bold 9790 and BlackBerry Curve 9380 will be available from carriers around the world over the coming weeks.
The 9380 is the first in the Curve family to feature a touch screen and it includes social-networking applications like Facebook and Twitter, as well as RIM’s free BlackBerry Messenger instant-messaging service. The Curve models, which sell for less than RIM’s top-of-the-line Bold phones, have spurred sales growth in markets such as Indonesia and India even as BlackBerry sales in the U.S. have declined.
The 9790 is comparable with the Bold 9900 released in August, though smaller in dimensions and with raised function buttons below the screen.

c7 is slightly better than c6-01.
It’s thinner, lighter, has a larger display with ClearBlack technology, a larger battery than the C6-01, an FM transmitter, 2mm and microUSB charging, support for USB on-the-go, an 8 MP Autofocus camera, TV-out feature and active noise cancellation technology for phone calls.

Microsoft's Windows Phone platform is apparently growing in popularity among mobile app developers. The software giant's Windows Phone Marketplace now hosts more than 40,000 apps and games from more than 10,000 different publishers, according to a study conducted by All About Windows Phone. About 33% of those apps were added in the past 90 days.
Of the submissions made during the past month, 85% were pure-play mobile apps, while 15% were games. Some 68% of those were free downloads, 23% were paid, and 9 percent were paid after the initial free trial period.
Apps on smartphones are being added a rate of 165 a day, and the Windows Phone watcher predicts that the marketplace, which only launched in October 2010, will surpass the 50,000-app mark by the end of January 2012.
As impressive as that growth rate sounds, the marketplace's number of offerings pales in comparison with the app stores for competing mobile platforms. Apple's App Store, which launched in 2008, surpassed the 500,000-app mark in May, adding some 150,000 apps in just four months. Meanwhile, Google's Android App Store, which also launched in 2008, offers more than 300,000 apps.
Microsoft's platform will likely get a boost from AT&T, which is reportedly in talks to offer Nokia's Windows Phone smartphones to US consumers early next year.

Mobile handsets market in India is likely to increase 8.5 per cent to 231 million units in 2012, compared to 213 million units expected this year, research firm Gartner said today.
"The Indian mobile device market is driven by the lowest call rates in the world and dominated by low-cost devices, which account for 75 per cent of overall sales in India in 2011," Gartner's Principal Research Analyst Anshul Gupta said in a statement.
On the other hand, home-grown brands are gearing up to give stiff competition to global brands by ramping up capacity and expanding product portfolio.
"The big global brands will continue to face competition from local and Chinese brands as some of these brands are building capabilities to compete at a larger level covering broader consumer segments," Gupta said.
The Indian mobile device market is very competitive with over 150 manufacturers and growing influence of local handset players in the low-end segment that has weakened position of traditionally stronger big global players, he added.
By the end of third quarter of 2011, Nokia led the market, followed by Samsung, Gartner said. Chinese mobile handset company G'five has taken the third spot in terms of unit sales. Karbonn Mobile and Micromax occupied fourth and fifth positions, the statement said
India accounts for approximately 12 per cent of worldwide sales and is an important market for device manufacturers with aspirations to grow their global share. The market is also supported by many local manufacturers.
"Mobile manufacturers also are competing against many brands in the black markets who are selling without invoices," Gupta said.
He added that the average selling price (ASP) of a mobile device is approximately USD 45, with 75 per cent of devices sold costing below USD 75 in India.
"Smartphone sales in India made up six per cent of total device sales in the first three quarters of 2011, and this share is expected to increase to six percent in 2012," Gupta said.

    welcome Gangster..
personally, i have not used samsung galaxy phones.
One thing about Android phones is the battery life. It hardly lasts two days. But considering all the features of the Android OS, the battery problem can be sidelined.
Most of my friends are using Samsung android phones. By perception, i think Samsung and HTC are the best manufacturers of Android-based phones.
I will suggest you to wait for a few more months as the new Android operating system version 4.0 (Icecream Sandwich) is around the corner. Early next year you may get the phones with this OS installed.
