    Q. Do you think Once Upon A Time 2 can do well as it clashes with Ek Tha Tiger?

    Confusion Over OUATIM 2 Shoot

by Box Office India (January 13, 2012)
We’re told that there’s lots of confusion over the commencement of the Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai sequel. Sources close to the production house tell us that lead actor Akshay Kumar has already locked his dates for the shoot in May.
So far, so good. But director Milan Luthria and his team are yet to lock the script and begin pre-production. Though they’re working at break neck speed, this film might have to go on floors in June, if things don’t go their way.And there’s one more hiccup – who’ll play the second leading man in the film? Well, there’s a toss between Abhishek Bachchan and Shahid Kapoor. Let’s wait and watch!
PS: Apparently, the film has already gone over-budget on paper. Once the pre-production is done, will the cost go up more or down?

    Over-budget on paper?
By Taran Adarsh ,Jan 17, 2012 - 07:31 hrs IST

The sequel of ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI continues to make news. The latest rumor doing the rounds of the industry is that the film is already over-budget on paper, even before the makers, producer Ekta Kapoor and director Milan Luthria, have commenced filming. Obviously, a news-report like this would raise eyebrows.

"Our focus has been on projects which benefit everyone. We followed the same pattern in ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI and THE DIRTY PICTURE. The budget has to be sensible," Milan Luthria elucidates, "At the same time, we need to justify the humungous expectations. The sequel is amongst the most awaited movies of this year and we have to ensure that the scale is just right. Balancing content and mathematics sensibly is a must."

ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI - 2 begins filming in May. "We've yet to lock the star cast. Only Akshay Kumar is finalized right now," Milan says. We're told that the makers have made contact with Abhishek Bachchan and Shahid Kapoor for the second lead. One of them will be chosen for the role in question. "It's a sensitive topic. Ekta and I have not decided on the second lead as well as the leading lady for the project. Hopefully, we will have the final cast in place this week," he adds.

What about Emraan Hashmi? Reportedly, Ekta and Milan feel Emraan is their lucky mascot and the actor has to be included in the sequel. "It's impossible. Akshay is playing the character that Emraan portrayed in ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI. So the question of casting Emraan doesn't arise at all," Milan sets the record straight.

Imran Khan bags 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai 2'

At last it has been finalized...
When it was announced that Akshay Kumar had been signed up for the sequel of Balaji's 'Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai', there was major excitement and curiosity about the unexpected choice of actor. The announcement was followed by months of speculation around who was going to play the parallel lead.
The industry's most widely speculated casting has been revealed. The makers have confirmed Imran Khan who, with this one, bags a heavy-duty addition to his kitty of films.
According to trade sources, the film's formidable and unconventional casting has made it among the biggest and most keenly anticipated industry features.
Says director Milan Luthria, "The uniqueness of pairing Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi in the original made people sit up and applaud. By casting Akshay and Imran together for the first time, we've pulled off the casting coup of the year. Both the stars are diverse in their appeal, style and presence. Just like Akshay, Imran was electrified by the script that Rajat (Aroraa) and I have worked on!"
According to producer Ekta Kapoor, "We couldn't have asked for a better actor than Imran to play Aslam. Not only does he fit the role to the tee but also enjoys an unprecedented fan following as a star. We welcome him to Balaji and look forward to working with him on the second edition of our franchise."
The high-romance action-drama goes into production in July and releases early next year.
