'Rajapattai' Ramesh, arrested!

Ramesh, a famous Telugu film producer who has also given noted films in Tamil including '�Pokirri' was supposed to produce Vikram's 'Rajapattai' which will be directed by Suseenthiran.

On Friday, Ramesh was nabbed in Chennai by the Andhra Pradesh Crime Investigation Department (CID). He was arrested at the Chennai airport on Friday as he was about to leave abroad with two of his sons.

He recently launched 'Rajapattai' with Vikram and Deeksha Seth essaying the lead roles and Suseenthiran directing the film, it was also rumoured that Deeksha Seth was roped in to play the heroine at a very high price for a debutant, and the price was higher than her usual Telugu films as well!

It is said that, Ramesh handled the binami works of Bhanu Kiran, who is the accused in the murder case of Suri (Remember RGV was inspired by his life, based on which was 'Rathacharithra'?), and Bhanu Kiran in turn financed Ramesh's films.

The complainant Vijayanthi Reddy alleged that Ramesh cheated them by not repaying a sum of more than Rs 14 crore. He seems to have borrowed around Rs 18 crore and returned only about Rs 3.4 crore rupees, that too in the form of three flats. When they insisted they want the money back, with Bhanu Kiran's assistance he seems to have threatened the complainant if they ask for the cash.

Various cases have been registered against Ramesh and since then he was in hiding, he was captured on Friday. He will be produced in the Chennai court and taken to Hyderabad through a transit warrant.

Vikram's Rajapattai in trouble!

Vikram's new film Rajapattai directed by Suseendiran has run into trouble, with the arrest of its producer Ramesh of Kankaratna movies.

The Andhra Pradesh CID has arrested him and has registered cases against him under sections 420, 406 and 506 for charges ranging from extortion to fraud.
Rajapattai was being produced by Ramesh under the name of his sons Prathish and Santhosh.

A big launch of this action entertainer took place on June 7 in Chennai.

Vikram was to play a dual role in the film as father and son. Deeksha Seth was to romance Vikram to the tunes of Yuvan Shankar Raja.
The latest we hear is that Rajapattai shooting which was going on in Chennai for the last few days has run into trouble, with Ramesh behind the bars.

Now there is a question mark over the film which was to be completed in one single schedule and released for Diwali

Looks like the arrest of producer Pokkiri Ramesh by the Andhra Pradesh CB-CID under charges of extortion and fraud hasn’t affected director Suseenthiran’s film with Vikram, Raja Pattai. While the talk is that the shooting of the film has been stalled, sources close to the project refute it. Ramesh is still reportedly in police custody. Interestingly, the film — which was initially supposed to be made by Ramesh’s production house — is now being produced by his sons, Pratish and Santosh, who are still studying in college.
A source close to Suseenthiran says, “At the launch of the film, Ramesh surprised us all by saying it would be his two sons who would be associated with the film, and not him. He was probably anticipating the arrest, and to save any hindrance to the project, launched his sons as the producers.” Ramesh was arrested on June 23 by AP crime branch officers at the airport. The police forced his wife, who was flying to Hyderabad, to call him to the airport and arrested him then. The AP cops reportedly told Ramesh that he had borrowed Rs 18 crore from a businessman, Sadanandallu, and had not repaid it. The source says, “Unlike reports in certain sections of the media, the shooting of Raja Pattai has not been stalled. In fact, Suseenthiran is currently canning a few important sequences on a huge set, which has been exclusively erected for the film, in the city. As per original plans, the film will be completed in the next 80 days in a continuous schedule.” The Vikram-Deeksha starrer, which is touted to be a commercial entertainer set in Chennai, is likely to hit screens for Deepavali.

Is Vikram’s Rajapattai stalled?

Ever since producer Ramesh was arrested by the Andhra Pradesh CID police under various sections for cheating, the future of Vikram starrer Rajapattai remained a big question. However, sources close to the film unit say that Rajapattai has not run into any trouble as the film is being produced by Ramesh’s teenage sons.

The youngsters are taking utmost care to ensure that the shooting progresses smoothly and there are no hitches whatsoever for the team. Rajapattai is directed by Suseendiran. Yuvan Shankar Raja is scoring the music for this flick. Deeksha Seth plays Vikram’s arm candy in Rajapattai.
