    No dogfights for these guys

When Emraan Hashmi was signed on alongside Tusshar Kapoor for the Silk Smitha biopic, everyone expected a tussle for screen space to take place. But sources from the sets tell us that the two actors certainly didn’t engage in fights. In fact, they developed a rapport that was quite surprising. “Vidya Balan aside, the stars of The Dirty Picture are Naseeruddin Shah, Tusshar Kapoor and Emraan Hashmi. With Naseer saab being above ‘competition’, everyone expected there to be a certain amount of friction between Tusshar and Emraan,” a trade watcher explained.

Tusshar says, “I knew what I was doing in the film and so did Emraan. He is a very easy-going guy with no insecurities whatsoever. It was good to work with him.” The high praise is reciprocal, as Emraan too admitted that working on Good Boy Bad Boy years ago had already created camaraderie between the two.

    Devotion before Dirty Picture

If Vidya Balan's innumerable tv appearances in 'Silk Amitha' avatar were not enough, producer Ekta Kapoor is also seeking god's blessings for her much awaited project 'Dirty Picture'.

The producer who believes in versatility and giving her audience something new every single time is pulling all strings to make sure her film yields good returns.

It is a known fact that Ekta visits the holy Tirupati shrine (near Chennai) before a new serial or film is about to launch. This time Ekta confirmed, she will be visiting not one but four temples in different parts of the country to seek the blessings of the Almighty. "I will be visiting the temples between November 15 and 28 whilst promoting the film intermittently" said Ekta.

She will first head to the Ajmer Sharief dargah, followed by the Kamakhya Devi temple in Guwahati. As Kolkata is close by, she will visit the Kali Ghat temple there, and just before the release, Tirupati Balaji.

    Picture abhi baaki hain…

    November 23, 2011 - 08:00 IST
    * The best is reserved for the last quarter and 2011 is no exception. October had its share of biggies, November witnessed the release of ROCKSTAR, while DESI BOYZ is scheduled to open this Friday. December has several interesting films lined up, which includes THE DIRTY PICTURE, LADIES VS RICKY BAHL and the hugely anticipated DON 2. Hopefully, the business should witness an upswing in the forthcoming weeks. The year 2011 began on a positive note [NO ONE KILLED JESSICA] and I am confident, it would conclude on a euphoric note as well.

    * That brings me to DESI BOYZ. Six years after GARAM MASALA worked at the box-office, Akshay Kumar and John Abraham share the screen space in this 'bromance' or 'dramedy' [drama + comedy], as first-time director Rohit Dhawan would like to call his film. The film has everything going in its favor. It's well promoted. It's a solo release. Most importantly, there is a substantial gap between the last Akshay film [THANK YOU] and this one. Ideally, a film of this stature should amass Rs 27 cr to Rs 30 cr nett in its opening weekend. Fingers crossed!

    * First BHEJA FRY, then TERE BIN LADEN, more recently DELHI BELLY triggered off a trend. They were game changers, actually. Everyone started making low cost comedies. But not every comic caper/laughathon can lure viewer in hordes. Or make the investors laugh all the way to the bank. The fate of SHAKAL PE MAT JA is for all to see. The film opened to dismal houses and has garnered a meager sum since its release. Moral of the story: No genre is foolproof!

    `The Dirty Picture` reaches Parliament

New Delhi: Producer Ekta Kapoor is leaving no stone unturned in making her dream project, `The Dirty Picture` a super success. In an attempt to ensure her upcoming flick starring Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, Naseeruddin Shah and Tusshar Kapoor rakes in the moolah, the ambitious girl is running from pillar to post.

The controversial film that is supposed to be a biopic on late south Indian sex-symbol Silk Smitha has a unique promotional plan. Lead actor Emraan Hashmi was at the Parliament to promote his film on Wednesday.

Explaining the unique the promotion strategy, Emraan while addressing reporters said, “It an unusual way to promote the film. I am here at the Parliament. We have exhausted all other ways of film promotion.”

Talking about his plans to promote `The Dirty Picture`, Emran had earlier said to a daily, “Given the amount of time I`ve been spending in Delhi, Mumbai soon might disown me. I`m looking forward to today. It`s just the film for the fun-loving north-wallahs who want entertainment, and more entertainment.”

Emraan Hashmi upset with sleazy Vidya?

Gossip has it that actor Emraan Hashmi, who is used to the limelight, feels that Vidya is stealing his thunder in the 'The Dirty Picture'...

Actor Emraan Hashmi, who has managed to carve a niche for himself, isn't quite pleased with the promotions of 'The Dirty Picture', or so we hear, what with Vidya Balan being treated to all the limelight thanks to her raunchy character.

Emraan known for his on-screen kisses and fantastic songs that always makes it to the top of charts suddenly finds himself at the wrong end of the stick is what is being said. But the unit members and the director, Milan Luthria deny every such triviality.

"Emraan has made himself available for every possible promotion. All actors knew the scope and length of their characters, and each and every one of them has an important part to play. Why then would they sign the film to begin with? Emraan has no inhibitions whatsoever and is as excited about the movie as anyone else involved in it," says one from the crew.

When we contacted Emraan, he kept it short with, "It's all nonsense" and went on to narrate what a fantastic time he had shooting with Milan Luthria. Milan and Emraan have worked together before in 'Once Upon a Time In Mumbai' and get along well.
