Messi coy on pregnancy rumours
The diminutive attacker was non-committal when questioned on the speculation about his girlfriend, which was fuelled by his goal celebration on Saturday
Barcelona and Argentina star Lionel Messi has refused to confirm the rumours that he is about to be a father.
Speculation has been rife in recent months that Messi is expecting his first child with his girlfriend, Antonella Roccuzzo.
The three-time Ballon d'Or winner celebrated his goal in Argentina's 4-0 victory against Ecuador in a World Cup qualifier on Saturday by stuffing the ball under his shirt in what many understood to be a hint at his girlfriend's pregnancy.
"We had a great match," he told reporters. "I felt very comfortable and pampered by the fans."
However, when asked about his celebration, Messi gave short shrift to the question, simply saying that he was dedicating the goal to "someone special."
The Albiceleste moved to the top of the table, with 10 points from five qualifiers following their convincing win.
