    Liverpool 1-1 Manchester City

Ten-man Manchester City survived a serious examination of their title credentials to extend their unbeaten Barclays Premier League record to 13 matches at Anfield.

Had it not been for goalkeeper Joe Hart the visitors may have tasted a league defeat for the first time since May 7.
They barely had time to celebrate Vincent Kompany's 31st-minute opener before Charlie Adam's shot was deflected in by Joleon Lescott.
In the second half substitute Mario Balotelli lasted 18 minutes before being sent off for a second bookable offence and had England international Hart not been on top form City would have succumbed to sustained Liverpool pressure in the final 20 minutes

    Arsenal 0-1 Manchester City

Sergio Aguero came off the bench to fire Manchester City into the semi-finals of the Carling Cup with a 1-0 win at Arsenal.
Both teams had made sweeping changes, but despite plenty of industry from Arsene Wenger's young side - with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain again producing an impressive display - it was big-spending City who had the edge as £35million Argentina striker Aguero slotted home with seven minutes left following a sweeping counter-attack.
The Barclays Premier League leaders will now turn their attentions to securing safe passage into the latter stages of the Champions League next month after the depth of Roberto Mancini's squad again paid dividends.
There was a tribute to late Wales manager Gary Speed, with the away fans spontaneously singing his name followed by applause.
Samir Nasri, on his first return since an acrimonious £24million summer transfer, was booed.

"City win shows progress as a club"

Adam Johnson saw further signs of Manchester City's progress as a much-changed side beat Arsenal 1-0 in tonight's Carling Cup quarter-final.
Johnson's delightful flick laid on the only goal for substitute Sergio Aguero in the closing stages to see City through to the last four.
And Johnson told Sky Sports 2: "It was a tough game, it's been a long week and a lot of travelling, but we've come away with the win and we're through to the semi-final.

    Manchester City 1-0 Arsenal

David Silva sent Manchester City back to the top of the Barclays Premier League with the only goal in a pulsating clash with Arsenal on Sunday.
The Spaniard slid in his sixth goal of the season after 53 minutes at the Etihad Stadium to finally give City reward for some brilliant attacking play.
Yet Arsenal, although perhaps lucky not to have Alex Song sent off, threatened on a number of occasions and Joe Hart saved well from Thomas Vermaelen late on.

Mancini hails City after 'important' win

Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini admits it was important his side to emerge victorious against Arsenal on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.
City claimed all three points thanks to David Silva's opportunistic second-half strike, guaranteeing a perfect response from Mancini's men after Monday's 2-1 defeat to Chelsea, which was their first defeat in the league all season.
Asked about the significance of three points on Sunday, Mancini told Sky Sports News: "It was very important after Chelsea - we didn't deserve to lose that game.
"Today [Sunday] was a fantastic game for the supporters. It was open until the end and I think we deserved to win.

    Manchester City 3-0 Liverpool

Normal service was resumed for 10-man Manchester City as they cruised to a 3-0 victory over Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
After just one point and no goals from two matches, they were given an easy ride on their way to opening up a three-point cushion over neighbours Manchester United, who will try to reduce the gap again at Newcastle on Wednesday.
Despite their recent wobble Roberto Mancini's side are still a formidable force, especially at home, and they extended their 100% home league record this season to 10 matches and made it 55 points out of a possible 57 in at the Etihad Stadium in the last year and three days.

    Wigan 0-1 Manchester City

Edin Dzeko broke an 11-match scoring drought to send Manchester City three points clear in the Barclays Premier League title race.
The giant Bosnian netted his 14th club goal of the season as he steered David Silva's free-kick into the bottom corner.
It was enough to overcome a spirited Wigan side, although the visitors did have chances to make life a little more comfortable against the basement boys, with Dzeko taking the best chance off the toe of Sergio Aguero.

Expecting a thriller between Man City and Tottenham today.
