Ella stateilum ithu pole ulla rules undu and they have been successful. I support this decision.
I can understand your concern. . Dont worry. I think Vijay films alone may get 300 screens here. Vere aarkum athra adhikam screens onnum venda. Viswasam okke 200 screens release aayitum disaster collection aanu and that too in spite of becoming a worldwide hit
For that matter this decision on other language films are not to protect Malayalam film industry but to protect distributors who buy the movie giving heavy rights . Ee rule kondu vannal anavashyam valiya rights koduthu vaagiyittu nashtam sambhavikkanathu kurayum.
I think this will stay here because distributors and theatre owners too support this. Because screens limited aavumbol rights thaniye kurayum.
The problem with other language release in Kerala is unrealistic rights amount and of course there is competition from too many Malayalam films which itself is killing each other.
Malayalam films ippo 170-160 dhaaralam mathi except for films say Lucifer or some other big hyped upcoming films which have already got exemption from this rule. Irupatthonnam nootandu 170 screens okke kittiyittum nalla dismal performance aayirunnu. And I think even as per the new rule Malayalam films may get 200 screens.
125 is a good number for other language films in a small state like Kerala. Athu kondu onnum sambhavikkilla.
Haa maybe. But pothuve ulla trend aanu ippo. Keralathil ella Tamil padangalum flop aavunnunu except for films like 96 and Ratchsan where rights amount will be very low.
Recent biggies including Vijays Sarkar did not do well in Kerala but all of them were decent successes in their own state and elsewhere except for Kerala
Athokke athra mega budget films aanu. Most of them costing 40-50 crores. Marakkar being the most expensive.
But I wish it was there for more films- Aadujeevitham, Dinkan, Nine, Trance etc because these are also big budget ones but not as big budgeted as the ones in the list
