Some movies are remembered for their stories, some for their making and some are remembered for the characters in them. We had many such characters like Dasan , Vijayan, Sethuramaiyyer, Appukuttan, Thomaskutty etc etc.Joseph Alex and Bharathchandran are two such iconic characters known for their fiery dialogues and dashing style. As a viewer i have been curious to see such popular characters together in movie, like superman and batman joining forces to fight evil. Yes we had a Balaram Vs Tharadas but its a forgettable one. With Renji Panicker and Shaji Kailas, the super hit team of the 90's coming together for movie after a long time, the expections were high and does the movie live upto its hype?

As far as the stroy is concerened there is noting new. Its a rehash of old Renji and Shaji movies. Not only the story but some characters and even some scenes resembles some old movies of the same team. The story takes place in delhi(they have shifted it from kerala). Pakistan terrorists(Not again, why cant the terrorists be from china, uzbekistan, or even somalian pirates that could been somehting new) are on a mission to kill the PM.The Intelligence director Dr.Sudarshan(Nedumudi Venu) comes to know of this but he gets killed. Now Joseph Alex is summoned by defence minister GK(Janardhanan) to investigate the issue and to assist him there is Bharatchandran.How they kill the terrorists forms the rest of the story. As in every Renji movies there is a godman(Saikumar) with a wierd long name and some madammas surronding him. Renji has something for these swamijis. Then there are some characters which are usual in Shaji Kailas movies.

What audience expect from Renji panicker is electrifying and speech like dialogues and the movie has plenty of them. There are dialogues which set screen on fire but some are unnecessarily long and you get a feel that they could have made it short and finished of the scene. As in every Renji movies the dialogues have references to the current political scenario and mentions about Anna Hazare, Rahul gandhi, etc. Last but not the least the dialogues have the trademark kadicha pottatha english words. How does he come up with such words? Even the oxford dictionary dont have them. The good thing about this is there is no need for english subtitles.

Mammoty as Joseph Alex is ubber cool and carries of the character in super style. His intro scene was excellent.Even after 15 years he looks exactly the same and has the same energy. He is 60(As per Kerala Budget 2012 he should have retired 4 years back) but still has the charisma in him. He is just unbelivable.When it comes to police roles,Suresh Gopi is the man to go and he delivers it with atmost perfection. His body language,expressions are perfect and no one can beat him when it comes to theri vili.Saikumar as Swamiji(forgot that long name..some veeran, chandran something) tries to imitate Narendra Prasad and looks unconvinicing.Janardhanan, Devan, Biju Pappan, Jayan does their roles. Samvritha has nothing much to do.

The camera angles and cuts are in trademark Shaji Kailas style. Nothing new about it. The BGM was not upto mark. The originals were better. With running time of more than 3 hours the movie needs some serious trimming.If it had some genuine story the length could have been justified but it lacks it and feels as if it has been extened just to fit in those 10 page dialogues.

With two powerful characters in hand Renji and Shaji could have come up with a interesting story but sadly they decided to stick to an age old story and gave priority to dialogues. The dialogues are fiery but it follows the same pattern and style and even the way the characters speak the dialogues have been already seen in many Renji movies.The movie fails to create an impression as its predecessors.The movie is for the fans of Joseph Alex and Bharatchandran but for others it may be just another average movie.
