One of the greatest things happened recently in Malayalam Cinema is that some of our filmmakers have started experimenting with newer themes,ideas and styles and delivering some fresh movies.Ashik Abu, after his Super hit movie - 'Salt and Pepper', also tried to be part of this move in Malluwood,with his latest film - '22 Female Kottayam.But he is not so successful with this attempt.The story written by Abhilash and Shyam deals with one of the most relevant issues - the injustice towards girls. By focusing on the story of Tesa, who is working as a nurse in Bangalore, movie tries to highlight the issues faced by girls in the current society, But the script is made in such a way that, the common audience wont get attracted to the movie.Ashik Abu's direction also failed miserably in this aspect.Script writers and Director could have approached the movie in a different angle so that people would definitely get engaged. Most of the scenes (Pre-climax scenes are the best in the movie) in the movie are made in such a way that a normal movie lover won't get interest to watch and enjoy. It could have been made more simple. Acting wise Fahad and Rima have done justice to their roles,Nothing great to be mentioned on their acting, but still seems to be good.I feel Asshik cluld have tried another actress for the lead role. Other actors also did well.Camera and BGM are awesome and same with songs.An interesting and relevant subject, executed pathetically - that's '22 Female Kottayam.People who watched this show also have the same feeling, I guess.


Verdict - A failed attempt.
