Mayamohini - Yet Another Classic from Sibi - Udayan

2011 was not a very good year for Dileep especially after a super successfull 2010. This year satrted with Spanish Masala which couldnt live upto its hype. Dileep tried some different movies last year but didnt do well at the box office.Dileep is back again and this time with what he does best.No brainer logicless comedies. With him is the king of such movies and his favourite writers Sibi - Udayan. The so called most valuable writers of malayalam film industry. They may be not be best around but nthey surely have one of the best success ratios. Sibi-Udayan may have written 25 movies with the same story but they can still write another 25 movies with the same story and still make a watchable movie. Now thats some real talent.

Their latest offering is Mayamohini, much publicized for Dileep's female getup. Storywise there is nothing new in the movie and of course you should be stupid to expect that from a Sibi-Udayan movie. The effort taken by dileep for
the role is appreciable but still something was lacking. Thought the female characters that come in COmedy Stars is better. Whenever there is man in female getup there is scope for the so called vulgar scenes but here its a bit over the limit. It should have been avoided considering Dileep has a lot of family audiences.

The real stars of the movie are the dynamic duo of Baburaj and Biju menon. They are the upcoming terrors, if Suresh Gopi would say it, in the malayalam indsutry. Both of them had some good roles in recent times and they are using it to the most. Baburaj's change into comedy roles is good hope he doesnt become another Suraj.The heroines as usual had nothing much to do. The only thing i liked about them was the item song.

Techincally there were no gimmicks in cinematography and was pretty apt for the movie. The songs were a big disappoinment and the item song had resemblences with sheila ki jawani.

The first half of the movie was pretty good with some good numbers form Babu - Biju duo and also with some really bad vulgar scenes. The comedies had double meaning but the audiences seemed to be enjoying it. The second half was ordinary with the usual cliches in a masala movie.

With the arrival of new generation movies, one might have thought of the end of such crass comedies but with people especially ladies thronging to theaters, shows that such movies are still the best bet in the box office. As long as there are audiences for such movies Sibi- Udayan and many others will continue to churn them out.
