Everything here is governed by money. Unfortunately the only sport that gives money in India is cricket. So naturally people go after it.

But still it seems strange that a country who is so poor in football internationally should take so much interest in that sport.
And why countries which do not play cricket do not give a damn abt that sport.

Would we be talking abt cricket in the same breath as football if it was not for India's success in cricket.

I am not trying to put football over cricket. Each sport has got its own dignity. But the truh of the matter is football is global due to many factors whether we like it or not. And if are to get any global recognition in sports we need to be good at more than cricket.

now fotball viewership incresed in india that i agree but check the matches people viewed most of them are premier leage matches and major tournaments like wc n euro,india is very poor in football compared to other coutries.So first of all indian footbal need to be sucess then viewership and support from people also incresed automatically

Wondering how many of us would follow cricket with such keenness if India weren't part of the game.

Most of us watch football and follow the club leagues due to the interest in the game and the unique pleasure that the game provides in spite of Indias no show in the game.

Football is a one off game that I think no other sport can emulate or can ever be as popular.

We all want our dee India to be a super power in all sports but we know it is impossible. So we try to be happy with the superiority that we enjoy in cricket. So let's keep it that way.

Cricket is a sport similar to baseball , rugby , ice hockey etc. which are only fielded by a few countries. They r proud of it and we can be proud of achievement in cricket.
