Malayalam superstar Mammootty will hold the state at ransom in his latest signing
In cinema, you’ve seen children, heroines and sometimes even a family being held on ransom. Mollywood superstar Mammootty goes a notch higher to hold the entire state at ransom in his next.
Sanjeev Sivan’s next Malayalam outing, 15 Hours, promises to give you this visual treat. Mammootty will essay the role of an NRI, also the protagonist, who ends up holding the state at ransom.
The film takes a jibe at the inadequacy of our social system. “The way government offices work is not new. For each and every little work that needs to be done, you end up having to bribe official. Nobody works according to the system. They constantly demand that extra quarter,” says Karthik, who will debut as a scriptwriter with 15 Hours.
“Human life is driven by objectives. Hope fuels it and principle defines it. When an objective is achieved beyond hope, a personality is born — that’s what the film is about,” explains Karthik, who quit a career in the aviation industry to take up the role of a scriptwriter.
But what’s with the 15-hour time frame? “According to the internal parameters given to the employees of the state government, any issue at hand needs to be resolved within 15 hours. If they fail to do so, the matter gets escalated to the central government, and then it becomes a national issue,” he shares.
While that sounds exciting enough, Karthik promises that the film will feature a host of other surprises. The team is currently working on the cast and the shoot is expected to begin later this year.

Mammootty in Sanjeev Sivan's Next


After a decade from his debut movie 'Aparichithan', Sangeev Sivan, the younger brother of renowned film maker Santhosh Sivan is back with another big project again featuring Mammooty. Titled '15 Hours' the movie will have the megastar as a rich N R I who ends up holding the entire state in ransom. Scripted by new comer Karthick, the movie will be a satirical attempt to expose the inadequacy of our social system. The other cast and crew of '15 hours' is getting finalized. The shoot for the flick is expected to kick start by the final months of the year. Watch this space for more about the project.
