My Boss

Manu, an engineering graduate, is working as personal assistant to his boss Priya in a software company in Mumbai. Once Priya had to play as Manus wife because of some critical circumstances and both of them travel to his home town in Alleppey. The rest forms the entire story. The movie has a good first half and a superb fun filled second half ending with a melodramatic climax. The climax portions, starting from a romantic album song, may look like a little boring.
Director Jeethu Joseph, after having a joyful roaming in the mollywood with his last drama flick “Mummy n Me”, has delivered a decent & standard comedy flick this time. His direction seems to be improving with each movies like below average, average, and now above average. Forgetting the fact that the story is copied from Hollywood movie “The Proposal”, he has written a good script with fresh comedies. Cinematography by Anil Nair is good. But the editing is pretty average. Songs composed by Sejo john is adequate. But, it looked like the kuttanadu song was out of place.
The wonderful performance by Dileep makes this movie more enjoyable, disregarding all technical aspects. . No other actor in Malayalam can make such a role to perfection. Sometimes we will feel like Mamta is overacting as a strict Boss, but she looked good in the role. The other actors Kalabhavan shajon , Sai kumar , Seetha , Valsala menon has given a huge support to the leading actors by making this a great watch. Overall it’s an out and out laugh journey, which can be enjoyed with your family.

Theevram
Thrissur – Ramdas
Date & Time – 18th November, 12 Noon
Status – Balcony: 60%+, FC: 90%+
Theevram is all about the revenge of Harsha to those who killed his wife. This film can be easily termed as “old wine in new bottle” as we have seen the same stuff in many other movies. But what make this movie watchable, is the way how it’s delivered. It looks good in the first half, as the viewer will feel like there is something fishy. The second half was below average, as it becomes too predictable. Towards the end, it drags a lot by repeating the scenes in the first half, and that too in slow motion.
Debutant director Roopesh Peethambaran , has tried to experiment with the presentation by rearranging each halfs of the movie. But he has succeeded only up to an extend. The problem lies with the second half script, which has nothing much to tell. If some suspense element has been kept throughout the film, it could have been better. The movie has been shot well by Hari Nair and the colour tone suits the mood. Roby Abraham’s songs are also nice and well placed. The BGM is excellent and it comes to my mind many times even after leaving the theater.
Dulquar salman excels in his role and his future in mollywood is bright. Veteran actor Sreenivasan has delivered a great performance and provided enough fun elements. Vinay fort is also very good. The other supporting actors like Anu Mohan, Vishnu Raghav , Riya Saira had done an ok job. Heroine role done by Shikha Nair seemed to be a poor casting. Overall “Theevram” stands slightly above average and its one time watchable.

Thuppakki
Chennai – Sathyam : Serene
Date & Time – 22nd November, 3.15 PM
Status – House Full
The story of the movie ‘Thuppakki’ revolves around a DIA agent named Jagadish and his efforts to wipe out terrorism from the Mumbai city. Both the halfs of the movie is having enough elements to entertain the audience with comedy, action and drama. The poor part of the movie is the songs composed by Harris Jayaraj. It was a real pace killer and the audience will feel like why it is needed in such a kind of movie. Except the last two songs, all others were not at all catchy and looked out of place. On the other hand, the BGM looked perfect.
AR Muragadoss , after having a bad outing with ‘7am arivu’ , has delivered a neatly packaged flick this time. Even though the story and script looks predictable, it’s all about the way how it’s presented. Santhosh Shivans cinematography is excellent and Sreekar Prasads editing is nice. Vijay is fantabulous as the army officer and his dialogue delivery is superb. Kajal Agarwal’s performance is pretty average, but looked gorgeous throughout, especially in the “Vennilave” song. Jayaram in his short role has given enough funny touch to the movie. Totally the movie is good to watch and mass audience will love it.
