We all know what Director VM Vinu can do and he is kinda ok in making family dramas like Baletan, Vesham, Makante Achan, but a thriller genre is definitely not his cup of tea.
Manoj's basic story line had the potential to be a good thriller which was somewhat evident in first half, but unfortunately the screenplay lacks the thrill factor completely. With injections of typical VM Vinu style like family sentiments and unwanted songs in between, the second half goes completely out of control.
No idea why Mammootty committed this movie as he seems least interested in some portions. Certain dialogues were delivered well, but apart from that it was boring to watch him in neatly dressed manner wearing a cooling glass and without having any scope to perform.
Siddique, Kalabhavan Mani, Mammukkoyo were adequate in their supporting roles while the performance of 4 boys were just ok and the female leads, including Ragini and Roma, were totally wasted.
Ajayan Vincent's cinematography was as always good and each frame was colorful, which at the end turned out to be the only big positive. Alphonse's music was a total let down but his background score was better compared to the songs.
Overall, Face To Face starts off as a thriller but second half turns out to be neither thrilling nor a family tearjecker and lands up no where at the end.
Verdict: Below average
