    Default Romans...a late review

How to make a successful film??Well either you can come up with a good and quality material and hope that it does well. There is another way in which a box office success can be created.(At least some people think that this will lead to a success). Here what the film maker has to do is simple.He/She has to come up with a tired and tested formulaic script and cast some actors who are having a good time now and who have good chemistry with each other. This formula has worked for many. But sometimes like any formula it fails.Romans follows the second path and gets lost....

Biju Menon and Kunchacko Boban play two criminals who are on the run. They end up on a remote village called Poomala near Kerala-Tamilnadu border. The villagers are waiting for two priests who are coming to their church and they mistake these guys for the priests. The 'priests' decide to use this cover to stay hidden from the law.But everything is not as straight forward and easy as it seems and there are some mysteries surrounding the church. To know more watch the film....

The story is a bit too similar to Ordinary.Instead of KSRTC employees we get priests. That's pretty much the only difference here. Some funny moments are there. But the basic story itself has numerous flaws which are hard to ignore. Many scenes lack logic. The film goes on for too long without any direction whatsoever.A heroine who looks 15 is thrust into the narrative just to make matters more irritating.

The film has a major plus point in it's leading men.Kunchacko and Biju Menon have done their parts very well.Their chemistry and interactions hold the flimsy narrative together. Also the visuals are nice and one song is good.

Romans is a film made to cash in on the market value of it's stars. But the material the stars have to work with is way below average.KuBo and Biju Menon need all the praise they can get for making this film watchable at least in some parts. But overall this remains a below average effort which in my view is not worth a trip to the cinemas..

    Rating:4/10

Film seen from Aluva Zeenath on 25-01-2013,first show.FC status about 50%.No idea about balcony
