Lokpal - Review !!

First of all let me give my verdict at the beginning itself rather than at the end of review . Lokapal is a below average movie.

Last year when the whole of India was talking about Anna Hazare and Lokpal, scriptwriter SN Swami must have thought "wait a minute i might have a thread for my new movie and the title would be Lokpal". The title itself was more than enough to generate enough curiosity. So Lokpal is the title and stoyline should be defintely on corruption. We have more than enough movies were our heros from all languages fight against corruption. Lokpal is the latest movie to join that list.

The story is nothing new. Its the story of Nandagopal(Mohalal) who fights against corruption in the name of Lokpal. As usual he makes a lot of enemies and how he succeeeds forms the story. SN Swami seems to be inspired from many movies, like for the whole website thing seems to be lifted from Anniyan, the character of Thambi Ramaiha seems somewhat similar to Yugi Sethu's character in Ramana and about the different getups we have already seen in many movies.

The main issue here is that the script is not at all engaging. Its like you can predict the whole thing and script moves at a slow pace. Most movies on corruption tend to show their heros as larger than life, but here the hero is a common man who owns a coffee shop and fights corruption. That seems a good thing but the way it has been shown on the film is very very ordinary.Another issue is that the characters in the movie has not been well defined, like they are jsut for the sake of it.

This is just another role for Mohanlal and script also doesnt have any scope for performance. The different getups failed to make any impact and the only the TTR getup was good.

Malayalam will be better to tell about Kavya. Padam kanan vannavar ellam FK reviewsile kavay te patti paranjathu arinju kanam enna thonniyathu. Its seems slangs are the flavour of the season, and thats why we have not one but two characters with diiferent slangs. Sai Kumar with a Thrissur slang and Shammi Thilakan with aTrivandrum slang. But sadly both of them doesnt pack a punch.

Manoj K Jayan as the usual corrupt police officer. Veendum malayalam. padathil Manoj K Jayan than oru budhimanaya police officer anennu theliyikkunnu oru scene undu, "leg fracture aaya patient gyneacologist aaya ninne enthinu kananmennu kavya yodu chodikkunna scene".

On the technical side, the cinematography and editing rre nothing to rave about. There is only one song which was irrelevant to the movie but was hummable. Sadly Joshy couldnt do anything with this half baked script.

Bottomline is "Even Anna Hazare will say no to Lokapal after watching this"
