GOLIATH S02. Billy Bob Thornton is the reason to watch this series. having finished the 2nd season, seems like the 1st was pretty straightforward. you had a David fighting against Goliath. lawyer Billy McBride, down, drunk and out of lock fighting against his former firm and ofcourse it ends with his moment in court and eventual victory. S02 is glaringly opposite. and good too. here you have billy fighting for a mexican teenager caught up with a gun in a fight between locals and mexican cartel. the disappointment is or for me, the shock is, it all ends up in tragedy. dead bodies, lost evidence, hopelessness, romantic betrayal... nothing that would tie the S02 to the S01 but ending up with possibility of an out-of-the-box shocking S03.
Arrested Development
The first three seasons were a hoot, no wonder why many people were raving about this show.In a collaborative endeavor from Hurtwitz Company, 20th Century Fox, and Imagine Television, Arrested Development is genuinely funny. The eccentricity of 'Bluth Family', an exceedingly artistic narrative, utterly hysterical characters, and the remarkable tongue-in-cheek humor - It isn't everyday a show like 'Arrested Development' comes along.
However, the revived fourth season is a dismay, it doesn't reach the lofty standards set by the first three seasons, and it doesn't do the show's legacy any good.

Sacred Games
Impounding Sacred Games as the finest Indian Series would be a gross understatement, it's much more than that. This raw, gritty series chronicles the stories of a jaded police inspector and an outrageous crime lord, and it pulls in the viewer with profound acting and a premise that is racy enough to distract from its trivial shortcomings.Sartaj Singh is a competently nuanced character, and Saif performs it with remarkable conviction.Nawaz as Ganesh Gaitonde is brilliant, and it was delight to watch these two performers.Unflinchingly gruesome and set at a compelling swiftness, Sacred Games is yet another triumph for Netlflix.
Season 1 ends on a tempting cliffhanger, eagerly awaiting Season 2 ❤️

Sacred Games
binge-watched, one go.
this is the kind of stuff I normally trip on. kashyap/motwane in all raw mode. angry, irreverent, violent with identity politics and an interesting conspiracy theory thrown in.
has moments of sheer genius -- too many, in fact. there are individual scenes/segments that are ballsy and out-of-the-world brilliant.
the best among them like, say, Breaking Bad have a progressive story arc but their individual episodes also have a life of their own. here, though they've tried a bit of that with the Hindu texts/titles, I found it a bit inconsistent. and forced.
in terms of the general mood, many portions play out like an uncut Gangs of Wasseypur. scenes involving Radhika Apte have a bit of Carrie Mathison/Homeland. didn't particularly care for the gangster-moll bits, written as some sort of homage to the bachchan-parveen babi era. speaking of homages and mentors, an assassination scene is taken straight out of RGV's Sarkar.
superb characters and fine performances -- saif and apte are good but siddiqui, a touch too detached maybe? found his quietly menacing turn a bit staple. I loved Jatin Sarna as Bunty, the trigger-happy gangster. Luke Kenny makes a smashing return. the women are terrific, especially Rajshri Deshpande (Sexy Durga).
lots of violence, some raw sex. all make this a heady ride alright but it does drift a lot.
there is some timeline/age-related confusion that could be cleared in a repeat watch. but at eight long-ish episodes, a repeat?
3/5
