April 5th, 2013.
Trivandrum - Sree Padmanabha 2K, 3 PM show.
Status - Balcony : FULL, First class : about 45%.
The movie tells the story of an innocent middle-aged family man 'Immanuel' who initially worked
in a book printing firm. After the decline of the institution, he searches for another job to over come
the financial problems in the family. Later he has a total image make-over and gets the job in an
insurance company, out of his comfort zone.
The movie has nothing new to offer, but the man in form Lal Jose deserves a special mention for making
it a feel good, simple, family entertainer. Very good direction, except few lagging in between.
Script was good, and the script writer has a very good future. Good comedy and good dialogues.
Coming to the performance,
As always, Mammootty delivers an excellent performance in the title role.
A tailor made role for the megastar. Superb response for the intro scene. Get-up make over was very good too. Certain expressions were top class.
Fahad Fazil was excellent. He is on a roll, another good performance from him. One of the most eligible
youngsters in our industry now, for sure.
Reenu Mathew was very good. A perfect debut for her. Good performance, and keep it up.
All others - Mukesh, Saikumar, Ramesh Pisharadi all did a good job.
The late Sukumari amma - A small role, but she was simply superb. A touching character.
Her last scene - in the lift was so touching. Her last appearance in front of the camera. 1000 salutes..
Coming to the Positives :
Mammootty, Fahad, Reenu, Immanuel's son.
All others actors.
Lal Jose's direction is the highlight of the movie. A story which has nothing new to offer,
he made it a good family entertainer. But, that LJ touch we saw in some of his previous flicks
were absent here.
Decent script. The script writer has a good future. Good comedy scenes and some good dialogues
got good response.
Good songs and BGM - another good work of Afsal Yusuf.
Feel good subject, and good climax.
Coming to the Negatives :
Nothing new to offer.
Some dragging in between.
My Verdict
The movie "IMMANUEL" may not have anything new to offer and also the Lal Jose magic
which we saw in 2 of his previous flicks may be absent,
still its defenitely a very good family entertainer without any double meaning dialogues or mass
scenes - and also leaves a very good message at the end.
Rating : 7/10
Box Office : A Family Hit.

A child is like a butterfly in the wind. Some can fly higher than others.
But each one flies the best it can. Why compare one against the other? Each one is unique, special and beautiful.
