thread aayi idumo...... evidenna kandath status pls.......Saw the film. Sameer Thahir has done a great job with the visuals and the making. There is nothing like a story for this movie. It is a road movie and should be enjoyed so. But I was disappointed with the defining moments of Qasi in the film. Let me make this clear. This movie is way above the usual movies in our language. When that thought struck inside me, my next though-process was to see how high this one could go when compared with classics of such genre in other languages. By genre, I mean, coming-of-age and not road movie. For the coming-of-age track, the defining moments in Qasi's life seemed lacking of emotions for me - his socialist idealogy turning into action in a impoverished Bengal village, the future of his political hot-bloodiness shaken by the experience of a political victim, the child in the riot, a smoky joint allowing him to think proper etc - all these moments were not fulfilling to me. The second half revolving around Qasi's home was too long and predictable. The movie could have been a hell-of-a-journey if the script was more taut. I don't understand why the writer chose the narrative shown in the movie - that is flashbacks in the main-line. Not saying it is a bad move, but for me, the flashbacks were placed at the wrong spots and they did not have the required effect. The story should have been told straight-out. The songs were placed in perfect positions. Friendship, love, politics, loneliness, societal pressure, religious beliefs are the topics covered but frankly, friendship was the only one fulfilling for me. Rest made me want and cry for more. the movie is heavily inspired by 'The Motorcycle Diaries' but has an identity of its own. In short, a must-watch movie that is so great that it is just a little short of greatness.
