As no other malayalam movie released any where near Pathanamthitta and considering the reports of KKOM and Memories, decided to go for the Jeethu Joseph's flick. Went for second show with all family members to Adoor about 25 Kms from our place. The atmosphere in the hall was not at all gud as there is no a/c or sufficent fans. It was hot and humid and we all felt the heat. But once the film started we could forget everything else.
It was smooth sailing all through. Stunningly tight script and direction from Jeethu made "Memories" one of the finest thrillers ever made in our industry. Prithvi as the drunkard Cop was just too gud. Even though there are elements from Sherlock Homes stories and other Hollywood films used, nothing takes the credit away from the makers.
Jeethu Joseph as a writer/Director came a long way from Detective and family dramas like Mummy N Me and My Boss. Even in Detective he was good in creating suspense but here it will definitely fetch even critical acclaims. The BGM was good so as the camera, The night and rain shots were brilliant. I only have one disagreement that is the casting of villain not because he is a bad actor but he fails to create a terror in the minds of most viewers and I hope everyone knows the reason. I am not explaining because the suspense element will be lost for those who haven't seen yet.
We can conclude this as a family thriller and will get the support from families...
B.O Verdict: The dark horse among Ramzan releases (3.75/5)
Valkashanam: Good projection and sound in the hall, But the absence of a/c and the misplacement of fans is the big negative here as the hall is in the second floor and no possibility of wind even if the door is opened during night shows....
