My Thoughts
Salim Ahamed had made his mark in film fraternity with his maiden venture Adaminte Makan Abu. Right from Kunjanthan’s announcement I was eagerly waiting for the movie.
Whether the movie met my expectations, well I would say to an extent it satisfied me. To be frank more than the content of the film, I was roused by Ikka’s stellar performance.
Salim had nicely written central characters Kunjanthan and his wife. Kunjanthan is a representative of any modern day man who care for nothing but himself and his egos.
His mannerisms and actions were well written and the same with chithira’s character as well. Some of the dialogues were catchy, say for instance sidhique saying about "we not praying to god for a son whom would look after parents in their old age” and Balachandramenon saying about the future generations etc.
As a movie, Kunjanathante kada is definitely not without flaws. The theme “transformation of central character “ has been told umpteen times in screen.
What makes the script work is the sincerity with which the story has been told and the lead character’s outstanding performance.
Still salim couldn’t convey his ideas fully to the audience in the way he expected.
The rat scene was an epic in the movie, reiterating the significance of life. Whatever happens, life has to go on.
Performance
Ikka, you continue to amaze us
For some of us it’s just another role and the it was never a challenge to ikka.. But Ikka literally lived as Kunjanathan and the minute details with which he portrayed Kunjananthan deserves pat on the back.
Indeed one of ikka’s best characters… The road scene where he was shown begging for making way for his jeep, received a thunderous applause from the audience..
Nyla was also good and she did a fabulous job coping up with Ikka..Their chemistry worked out very well.
Positives
Ikka’s dazzling act
Nicely Written Dialogues
Direction at Parts
BGM and Cinematography
Negatives
Little more work on the script.
Rating
4.25/5
If you are a true fan of ikka who loved his performance in Boothakkanandi, Thaniyavarthanam etc you should not miss Kunjananthan.. Watch it ..
