Mayamohini team( Dileep, Uday - Sibi, & Jos Thomaas) is back with another movie "Sringaaravelan" for this Onam season. It will be pure foolishness if you are expecting something new from Uday Krishna - Sibi team's script. Knowing the standard of their script, I watched this movie with minimum expectations. But then also the movie fails to satisfy me.

Synopsis : A fashion designer, Kannan is our main protagonist. Eventhough he completed fashion designing, he is jobless. He tries to make money through some fraud plays, but ended up in vain. One day a goonda whose name is Isow, comes to kannan's house. Soon they became friends. Isow told the idea to Kannan to marry a girl from a rich family so that Kannan could become rich without any job. One day, Kannan was asked by his father to go to one Kovilakam for giving a saree which was made by Kannan's father. Kannan reached Kovilakam but he was compelled to stay there for two weeks due to some issues.The series of incidents which follows this forms the rest of the movie.
In the making side, direction was average. Even though the movie had a pleasant 1st half, that mood was spoiled in the 2nd half especially the last 30 minutes of the movie.

"Shankaran is still on the coconut tree!!!", when considering the Sibi - Uday script. The movie had some good comedies till interval. But the script was gone completely out of hand in the later part. Expect one song, other songs were good which had a touch of 'Karyasthan' movie songs. Bgm was just okay.

On the acting side, Dileep handled his role as Kannan comfortably. Vedhika was cute throughout the movie but her performance was average. The positive part of this movie was Kalabhavan Shajon. After 'My Boss', he got another good humorous role in this movie. Lal played the role of Isow. Some of his comedies were refreshing. Shammy Thilakan's character 'Ookkan Tintu' in the movie 'Neram' appears in this movie as well and it was the only relief factor in the 2nd half. Baburaj doesn't had any importance in this movie. Rest cast includes Nedumudi Venu, Joy Mathew, Babu Namboothiri etc.

Overall, Sringaaravelan is a below average movie. Even 'Mayamohini' lovers might not enjoy this flick. But since this is a festive season, the movie might be a box office hit due to family audience support for Dileep.

dvd irangumalo.. or else don't watch such movies !!
