Fisherman's Review of Janapriyan's Sringaravelan

Saw Janapriya Nayakan's latest offering Sringaravelan. When our Janapriyan unites with Sibi - Uday the writers of commercial pot boilers we all know what to expect from that movie. The movie is 90% successfull in delivering those. Why only 90% ? I will come to that...

1st half starts of well with hero's family and his father's woes of our hero chumma roaming around here and there without doing any job. Then comes our heroes intro which is very good and matches movie's tempo very well. Intro gets over With some comedy scenes associated with a real estate dealing our hero is tryng to do. After that enters Lal's character which is the epicentre of all laugh riots in the movie. Dileep - Shajon - Lal combo rocks the screen from then on. Oh! Aa patti odichidunna scene okke thakarppan thanne. From then on till around 15 mins to interval it is a laugh riot. There would be very few people who cannot enjoy this comic ride. Theatre-il aalukal thala thalli chirickunnadhu namukku kaanaam. 15 mins to Interval we dwell into the story of heroine which is quiet boring and could be cut short. From then on the heroine's father character is always a Kallukadi in the movie. Did not like that guy at all. He is a misfit to play such roles. That creates a pain and would make viewers start thinking why interval is not happening.

Post interval the saga continues for another 15 mins or so probably which is quiet boring. Then is the 2nd entry of Lal's character in a different avatar. From then again it becomes a laugh riot. Oh! Man the scene where he does astrology with kavadi is again a laugh riot. The film goes on in the humorous path entertaining us to the core. Then comes Baburaj's entry which evoked lot of interest but sadly Baburaj's character did not live up to our expectations. Baburaj's character failed to evoke much laughters this time. The confusions and plans leads to the climax. By this time it is sad to say that the movie has started testing viewer's patience. Myself, my wife and all dozed off little bit by that time. Could be because it was a late night show. Still my kids were fully up and watching the movie. Of course it is their favourite hero's movie. Climax fights and scenes were not at all impressive and just average. But then that is typical of a Sibi - Udayan movie right.

Summary - The movie is definitely a masala entertainer and lives up to that expectations. But could have become one of the best entertainers in recent history if the movie was kept to 2hrs 15 mins or so and by reducing the serious scenes.

Positives
Dileep - Shajon - Lal Combo.
Sibi - Udayan Script. It is amazing how these guys creates such comedy situations and make people laugh repeatedly.
Direction - It is a well directed movie and if not for him Climax would have become unsahickable.
Heroine - Does well what is expected from her - Look Beautiful.

Negatives
Too long...
15 mins before and after interval quiet boring.
Pre-Climax and Climax sequence is again too long and could be cut short.

Loud Laughters for most of the time.

Final Word - A true vacation entertainer. Go for it with family and enjoy the fun ride.
