A time for remakes in Mollywood. After Neelathamara, Rathinirvedham and Chattakari, we hear that Sarapacharam, the classic film of the late 70s, is now all set for a comeback. Interestingly, Hariharan, who directed the original, will direct the remake too.Buzz is that the remake will undergo certain changes to make it more appealing to the new gen audience. However, the makers are yet to reveal the cast and other details of the film.Sarapacharam, scripted by Malayatoor Ramakrishnan and starring Jayan and Sheela, was a huge hit and the highest grossing movie of the era.

Ace director Hariharan has revealed that his next project might be a remake of the super hit yesteryear movieSharapancharamdirected by him. The original version was released in the year 1979 with Jayan and Sheila doing the lead roles. The movie was instrumental in elevating Jayan to the status of a super star.
Now, after many years, the director hopes to recreate that earlier magic with of course, the necessary changes. In an interview, Hariharan has confirmed that he has the lead pair already in mind.
