Fisherman's Review of Phillips and Monkey Pen

Never bothered about this movie until seeing +ve reviews in FK. After seeing the reviews went to see the movie with family. Could not resist going with wife being a School Maths teacher.

Coming to the movie - An outstanding movie with some outstanding performance from Kutti Pattaalam. The film starts of by giving us a background of what Monkey Pen is. It is explained based on the history of Bristow who built Wellington Island of Kochi and how Monkey Pen helped him design the same. Once that context is set we come to the present stage where Phillip the kid is struggling with his Maths homework and other school activities. Like several kids he hates Maths and is not bothered to study much. Eventhough back in his studies he is in front on creating troubles. His struggle with school work and his family background is set well in the 1st half. There are lot of scenes which is definite to make you and your kids laugh. I am not getting to the detailed scenes since you should enjoy it seeing the movie. Interval comes with the entry of Monkey pen in Phillip's life.

2nd Half concentrates on how Monkey pen helps Phillip address his school concerns and how Monkey pen changes Phillips from a spoiled brat to a sought after kid. That transformation has also worked out well and has been taken in a convincing manner. 2nd half also has a small love track which again has worked out well. Again there are several scenes which will make you laugh and at the same time make you feel sorry @ times and could bring down few tears...

Positives
Everybody in Kuttipattalam.
Tight script with not even few minutes which will make you feel bored.
Excellent making.

Negatives
Nothing much.

Crowd Response
Crowd was thoroughly enjoying the movie with good laughters. Also there were claps @ Climax.
