Like road movies and horror movies, a new genre has been taking root in Malayalam cinema in recent times. Food movies have become popular and the enticing visuals have found wide appreciation. After movies like Salt N’ Pepper, Kammath and Kammath and Ustad Hotel, another food movie is in the offing.Titled Rasam and directed by Rajeev Nath, the movie has Indrajith as a Namboothiri cook in the lead with Mohanlal essaying a character role. The movie has a traditional dehannakaaran (cook) who runs a catering service. He is invited to Dubai to cook for a wedding there. Indrajith plays the cook’s son, who tags along with his father. Mohanlal plays someone who mentors Indrajith while at Dubai. The movie will be shot mostly in Dubai, with only a few scenes in Kerala.

After the movies for foodies like 'Salt N Pepper', and 'Kammath and Kammath', director Rajeev Nath is coming up another in the title 'Rasam'. Scripted by Sudeep Kumar, the movie revolves around restaurants and catering services.
Mohanlal and Indrajith, will team up for this movie which will tell about a Namboodiri cook, who runs a popular catering service in Kerala.The story gathers steam as he is invited by a Dubai-based family to cook for a wedding there. The team is in the lookout for a fresh face to play the female lead. A movie that will be based on food and characters reolving around it, 'Rasam' much of the movie will be shot at Dubai.
