+++ Drishyam - - - My small review +++

Status : Housefull with returns. Around 50% female audience. Family audience sitting even in the first row...

Expectations : Sky high due to Jeethu Joseph's track record.

Movie: A movie which starts off like just another cliche family movie takes a U turn at halfway and continues its journey filled with plenty of thrilling moments. A well executed movie by its director who also deserve special plaudits for the excellent casting. Must watch in theatres to feel the thrill.

Thumbs up:

1. Jeethu Joseph -Amazing screenplay and direction. More than able captain of the ship. Mollywoods future is bright with such talents.
2. Mohanlal - A cakewalk for him. Glad to see him in such natural down to earth roles.
3. Shajon - What a transformation!! Excelled as villain in mannerisms and expressions.
4. Sidhiq - Perfect casting although in a small role. Can understand why Jeethu was keen to have him on board for that role.
5. Asha Sharath - Surprisingly ends up in the positives. Was sceptical about this casting but Jeethu and Asha proved me wrong. A well balanced performance. Cant think of another actor doing that role so well - even Lena/ Nadia etc..
6. Meena - Did her role well. Suited well for the character agewise and lookwise.
7. 2 girls - especially the younger one excelled.. way to go..
8. Excellent second half , preclimax and climax...

Thumbs down:

Nothing much. However the music department could have done a better job which would have been an icing on the cake.
I felt there is room for improvement in screenplay in the intial part of the film. Not sure whether the 'Maruti sequence' needed so much detailing.

My favourite sequence: the preclimax incidents where Georgekutty uses his innate mental resources to save his family.
Crowd response : Claps galore troughout the second half. Very good WOM.

My rating: 9/10

BO Verdict : Megahit - Blockbuster

PS: During the 'Maruti' sequence I thought the movie could go a preachy way i.e "you shouldnt discuss certain things in front of kids". But then I forgot the director wasnt someone from Anthikad. :)
