Entertaining In Bits & Parts!
Jilla starts of promisingly & manages to keep the audience entertained till the end of the first half but drags painfully in a disastrous second half,where it loses the momentum,zeal & intensity.Director Nesan has failed in characterization of the lead characters & couldn't present them well on screen.I havn't seen such a film in recent years where the lead actor[vijay] overacts as if he's acting in an over-melodramatic play,which was totally absurd to watch on screen.Lalettan was brilliant in his portrayal of Shiva,but practically disappears in the second half like a side-kick which was really agonizing for an admirer of the complete actor like me.The influence of Malayalam is seen in his dialogues & had he worked on his Tamil dialect the portrayal could have been more powerful.Coming to the untenable story,scenes are aplenty like a guy becoming an Assistant Commisioner of Police in a glimpse[I agree its a tamil movie where logic takes a back seat,but still!! ].Item songs are usually included to entertain and increase the pace of the film,but here its a speed breaker in all means along with another song picturized between Vijay & Kajal Agarwal.Overall,apart for some thrilling & interesting moments in the first half,3 catchy songs & Lalettan's charisma,Jilla doesnt have a strong screenplay to call it a good entertainer.

*Lalettans Charisma is a saving grace for the movie,but he wasn't given proper importance post the interval.The energy that he posess is amazing.
*Vijay overacted in most of the scenes,particularly the ones after the intermission.Certainly this is one of his worst performances in recent years.
*Kajal Agarwal was totally wasted.
*Soori didnt even get more than 3 dialogues to perform.
*Sampath couldn't shine in his role.
*Mahith,Nivedha were good.

Verdict::The most hyped movie in recent times,A brilliant song teaser to start with,Lalettan again in a mass avatar,Ilaiya Dalapthy to share space with The Complete Actor,More than 200 screens in kerala,10 hrs long wait outside the theatre,Heavy rush,Injuries for many during the rush-All Ended In Vain! The first half is entertaining & has Lalettan rocking as Shiva,but post the interval its a disastrous experience.Give it a miss & u will not disappoint,Else watch the first half & leave the theatres!
