thanks ITG......
Before the movie..
Since the backdrop of this movie is not something that we usually see in Malayalam and it deals with cricket of which I am a big fan, there was a curiosity factor about this movie right from the start. Good trailer and impressive songs added even more to my interest to watch this film FDFS. But i couldn't, due to some personal reasons. After hearing good reports about the movie and the way in which it was received in theaters, i was a little upset that i missed the opportunity to watch it in a packed theater during the 1st weekend
But that was not to be the case. Even for this working day matinee, there was a very good crowd.(350 people)
About the movie..
The way in which certain things are presented needs a special mention. For instance, in the first half, the scenes showing the gang playing cricket. People who have played cricket can easily relate them with their own experiences and hence they seem very realistic. Certain dialogues were very much original that we have all said/heard them while we are playing
All the actors in the film, right from the hero to the little boy who was his son, played cricket as if they were players and not actors. With very less dramatization and not much gimmicks, the director has succeeded in conveying the emotions perfectly.
Songs were well picturised. Olanjali was too beautiful that people were humming with the song.
Unlike what I saw in some reviews, I liked the 2nd half as much as the 1st, or even more. Loved the climax. It was very nice to see that it ended in a bit unconventional fashion, with things at stake, yet in a optimistic manner. Loved the last scene and narration.
Good response from the crowd throughout.
And yes, a great tribute to the ' Little Master'. Could hear thunderous claps whenever he was mentioned. So good to see
About the performances, Nivin was top notch. Carried the movie on his shoulders and never let down. Matured acting.
Gang members were excellent. 'Sachin's' cameo was short but very funny
Heroine and Hero's parents were also very good
The boy rocked. Played all those shots with so much technical perfection. He can give a try at Cricket too
Full credit to the new director and his crew for this wonderful experience
NB: For people who do not like cricket, the movie may not give as big an experience as it may give for cricket lovers, but is definitely more than worth a watch.
Rating: 3.75/5
After the movie..
Might have been an underdog before the release but now is the first hit of 2014
