"Interesting Plot,Mediocre Execution!"
Films based on the theme of "Body Swap" concept have been tried & tested in different languages across the globe.Ithihasa,directed by debutant Binu.S presents the confusion & fun that arises when a boy & girl switches their body overnight due to a magical ring & has been clearly inspired from numerous films from the west such as Its A Boy Girl Thing,Hot Chick & Switch,to name a few.The similarity is not an offense as this is a fresh concept as far as malayalam film industry is concerned.

Eventhough the basic theme is interesting,the narration was not much impressive,imparting an overall feel that the movie could have been presented much better on screen.Screenplay by Anish Ashok was good in bits and parts,but drawn-out with many unwanted lengthy sequences.The first half in particular was unnecessarily long & required some better trimming to boost the pace of the movie.Cuts by Jovin John were not smooth.The movie became more interesting with the onset of the second half & ended with a neat climax.

Coming to the performances,Shine Tom Chacko & Anusree were really impressive & particularly excelled in sequences post the body swap.Swapna Mohan & Balu Vargheese gave notable support.

Cinematography by Sinoj P Ayyappan was excellent & added to the visual beauty of the movie.Music by Deepak Dev was passable with the 'Ninnil Njan' being the pick from the album which have been choreographed really well.Run Ravi's action sequences were good.

Overall,Ithihasa is at best a passable entertainer with an interesting plot & some good performances.
