"A Colorful Family Entertainer Without Any Freshness"

Mylanchi Monchulla Veedu delivered what it promised through the promos,songs & stills - a colorful combination of humor & sentiments in muslim backdrop narrated with good support from the technical & acting departments sans any novelty whatsoever.A typical Udayan-Sibi product which reworks the formula derived from numerous films from the past like Udayapuram Sulthan,Karyasthan,Mangalam Veetil Manaseshwari Guptha & many others,Mylanchi Monjulla Veedu offers passable 150 minutes with some rich visuals generously shot with lavish production values & excellent work by the art direction department.


Director Benny Thomas makes a decent debut making use of a done to death,but passable screenplay by Udayan-Sibi & narrates the storyline with the help of humor element arising out of confusions inside a big family.The climax & the latter half was slighlty dull comparing with the first hour.The art director & the costume designer deserves a special mention for the colorful atmosphere maintained throughout the narrative.Cinematography by Ajayan Vincent was catchy.


The album composed by Afsal Yousuf is melodious & undoubtedly among the best soundtracks of 2014.The choreography of the songs have been done impressively with rich & captivating visuals.The backround score by Biji Bal was adequate for the theme.


Mylanchi Monjulla Veedu will be a big relief for Jayaram who is going through a rough phase in his career with continous flops like Njangalude Veetile Adhithikal,Ulsaha Committee,Onnum Mindathe & Salaam Kashmir.The movie will help Jayaram regain a place in the hearts of famiies who form a major share of his audience.Asif Ali did an impresive job portraying his role well & gave good support to Jayaram.Both the female leads did their part well eventhough Kaniha got more screen presence than Meera Nandan.The humor element anchored by Baburaj & Kalbhavan Shajon was good despite the fact that some double intenders could have been avoided.


Overall,Mylanchi Monjulla Veedu is a watchable family entertainer worth a try,without any notable freshness in the stroyline .
