To fans of other actors who are getting offended, I would like to point out that while analysing Mammookka's greatest performances and evolution of his career, comparisons with other actors are obvious. Bro, please take this discussion in the right spirit. We had no intention of degrading the performance of Mohanlal in any film.
Regarding Kamaladalam, it's one of my favourite films of Mohanlal. He has done really well in that role and thus well appreciated. But did he do full justice to the character of a Bharathanatyam teacher? The answer would be a NO. As AJAY said, we were happy to compromise knowing it was done by someone who was not trained in that art form. Compared to Kamal Hassan's performance in a similar role, Mohanlal's performance was a level below. But no objections really. Mammootty would NOT have been able to do it at all. Lal atleast pulled it off.
Regarding Thazhvaram, it was an amazing film. Again Lalettan did very well. But I personally think Mammootty could have done better.
We would have said the same if Lal acted in Pappayude Swantham Appoos or New Delhi. It's just that Mammootty has that extra talent to personify the characters at its full.
Similarly I think Mammootty wouldn't be able to perform as well as Lal in Chithram, Nokketha doorath etc..
I'm pretty sure Mohanlal wouldn't be able to do Peranbu the way Mammootty has done it. I'm saying this even without watching the film. But I know that because we know Mohanlal wouldn't be able to perform near to Mammootty's level in these kinds of roles.
So take it in the right spirit.
