    Default Review: Ivan Maryadaraman

    Ponnani Shakthi,9/4/15, Second Show
    Status: ~ 15%

Suresh DIvakar is one of the rarest directors to debut with a remake film in Malayalam (that too an official remake ) and he chose( or maybe some one else) SS Rajamouli's comedy thriller "Maryadaramanna" , which is totally fine. But this guy just follows that same template , same characters(even the cycle), same situations- what more, same shots and even same title as the original. That shows the lack of creativity and ideas and that is the problem with this film.

The basic plot is interesting. But script writers fail to develop that. Even though the story claims to take place in an imaginary village in Kerala, you don't feel anything about Kerala at all- be it their costumes, culture, deities etc. This and the casting of some non- Mallu actors with poor lip sync (like Naganeedu, his son Soorya) make you feel like you are watching a dubbed film.

Another drawback is the lack of comedy. Barring a couple of scenes in first half , the film doesn't offer anything which is not good for a Dileep film.

But even then first half of the film is enjoyable to be frank, though it may appear silly. And they should have kept the same mood post interval as well. Instead it becomes melodramatic with many cliched scenes and a terrible climax.

Dileep, Nikki Galrani has nothing much to do . Kailash, Abu Salim has got some dialogues in this film. Villains are supposed to look scary and scream a lot here which they do just fine, though Naganeedu stands apart .

    Rating : 2/5
WoM is poor for the film and reflects in the status which is definitely bad by any standards. I don't think this will be a hit.

Dileep really need to take a break from Uday-Sibi now . Or else his Janapriya nayakan title will be in trouble, especially with Nivin is flying at the moment. But his upcoming projects look promising and all without Uday-Sibi.

You mean regarding the direction ?
On a side note ,I have seen Hindi version also. It's very different from the original and shorter but IMR is definitely better than that .

OVS is the movie in demand in here, followed by EE . Tbh even FF7 is getting more viewers than this . Maybe this weekend you may get a much clearer picture regarding the family and kid audience
