    UEFA Champions League

Leicester City, the BPL champions, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur take automatic places in the group stages.
After their 1-1 draw at Swansea City, Manchester City will contest a play-off, barring a Manchester United victory by at least 18 goalsover AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday.

A fifth BPL side can feature in the UCL next season, if Liverpool earn a place in the group stages through winning the Europa League final against Sevilla in Basel on 18 May.

Hat-tricks for Messi and zil on goal-filled Wednesday

Barcelona, thanks largely to a hat-trick from Lionel Messi, and Atltico Madrid made it nine points out of nine as Mesut zil registered a treble of his own in a 6-0 victory for Arsenal.

    • Lionel Messi scores a hat-trick as Barcelona maintain their 100% record, beating Manchester City
    • Atltico Madrid also make it three wins from three after overcoming Rostov
    • Arsenal and Paris have a six-point cushion in Group A after defeating Ludogorets and Basel respectively
    • Mesut zil on target three times in the second half in Arsenal's 6-0 triumph
    • Beşiktaş end Napoli's perfect start to the UEFA Champions League group stage

    Group A
    Arsenal 6-0 Ludogorets Razgrad
Mesut zil scored a second-half hat-trick as Arsenal blew Ludogorets away. The German international took centre stage after Alexis Snchez, with a deft chip, Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain had given the north Londoners a 3-0 advantage by the 46-minute mark.
    Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 Basel
ngel Di Mara, Lucas and Edinson Cavani, with a late spot kick, gave the scoreline a somewhat flattering appearance on a night when Basel hit the woodwork three times.

    Napoli 2-3 Beşiktaş
Beşiktaş registered their first success in 12 all-time encounters with Italian opposition thanks to Vincent Aboubakar's winner, his second goal of the match, four minutes from time. Fabri saved Lorenzo Insigne's penalty for the Serie A side with the score at 2-1 but was eventually beaten from the spot by Manolo Gabbiadini.
    Dynamo Kyiv 0-2 Benfica
Franco Cervi's strike added to Eduardo Salvio's early spot kick, awarded after Antunes brought down Gonalo Guedes, as Benfica recorded their first victory in the section.
    Group C
    Celtic 0-2 Borussia Mnchengladbach
Lars Stindl's drive through the legs of goalkeeper Craig Gordon, following an unsuccessful attempt by Kolo Tour to shepherd the ball out of play, gave the Bundesliga team a 57th-minute lead. Andr Hahn then punished another error by the defender as the Foals garnered their first points.

Lionel Messi's seventh UEFA Champions League hat-trick ensured a miserable Camp Nou return for Josep Guardiola. Messi's second came eight minutes after former Barcelona custodian Claudio Bravo was sent off for handling a lob by Luis Surez outside the area. Messi teed up Neymar, who moments earlier had a penalty stopped by Willy Caballero, for the fourth late on.
    Group D
    Bayern Mnchen 4-1 PSV Eindhoven
Bayern posted their first win in four as they bounced back from their matchday two setback in Madrid, Robert Lewandowski and Arjen Robben making the points safe after Luciano Narsingh had replied to goals from Thomas Mller and Joshua Kimmich.

    Rostov 0-1 Atltico Madrid
Atltico were made to work before finally making the breakthrough just after the hour. Yannick Carrasco's thumping finish at the far post not only rubber-stamped the Rojiblancos' third successive victory it also inflicted on Rostov their first home defeat in 27 games.

2016/17 UEFA Champions League access list

The 2016/17 UEFA Champions League kicks off on 28 June 2016 and comes to a conclusion when the final takes place at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on 3 June 2017.
A country's representation in the UEFA Champions League is determined by its UEFA coefficient ranking, which is calculated over a five-year basis. The 2016/17 access list is determined by the ranking as of the end of the 2014/15 season.

*The UEFA Europa League winners will start in the UEFA Champions League play-offs unless the 2015/16 UEFA Champions League winners finish their domestic campaign in a league position which means they would have qualified for the group stage via that method.
If that does happen, a group stage vacancy is created which the UEFA Europa League winners would fill.
If that did not happen, the UEFA Europa League winners would start in the league route play-off (if the UEFA Champions League winners came from the first 13 associations in the UEFA rankings; if the winners came from any of the associations ranked 14-54, they would enter in the champions route).
**Liechtenstein do not have a league system and therefore do not supply UEFA Champions League representative(s).
