Oppam - A pretty good thriller that wont disappoint for sure!

Jayaraman(Mohanlal) is a highly skilled blind man who works as a lift operator in an apartment. He has to save someone really close to him from the clutches of a psychopath.


Mohanlal finally has something to perform here after some disappointing outings in the past few years. He plays the role of a blind man and it was quite refreshing to see him in a new avatar. The different shades of emotion was conveyed effectively by him that suits the mood of the film.


The first half of the film moves in a lighthearted manner with suspense building up from the starting shot itself. Scenes involving Lalettan and Baby Meenakshi was cute and quite a few laughter was provided by Mammookoya and Kanaran Harish. The film takes a shift to the thriller mode with the identity of villain and his intentions revealed. Encounters between Lalettan and the antagonist was the best part of the film. The mood of the film was consistently maintained from then and really good job from Priyadarshan here.


The background scores was highly effective and the songs are already on the hit chart. 'Chinnama' and 'Minungum minnaminunge' are my favorites.


The cinematography was very good with some brilliant aerial shots and the use of some really impressive dark tone when the mood shifts to that of a thriller.


Overall, Oppam satisfied me and is a pretty good film to spend this Onam :)


Lalettan has got another hit film in his kitty after quite a while!! Priyadarshan is back in business too after really disappointing decade or so. In fact the last film which kinda satisfied me was Vettam way back in 2004.
