Oppam- Detailed Review

After a series of disaster movies priyadarshan is back with Oppam, in which Mohanlal plays a blind man.

This time Priyan-Lal duo hits the right spot. Oppam is a highly entertaining movie with good elements of thrill. The script isn't flawless or extra ordinary but the way it's treated is so good. The antagonist is revealed within the first 30 minutes or so, and yet it's very engaging. We get excited to know whats going to happen between them. That's what i liked the most about the writing portion.

Coming to performances- Mohanlal is undoubtedly brilliant as the blind man. He has kept it unique from the blind characters we have seen before, the way he uses his body, he moves his eyes, all were so believable that the character is an extra-ordinary blind man.

Vimala Raman was a total miscast and she's terrible in few of the scenes. Mammokkaya (after a long long time) and Hareesh K R has delivered good comic roles . Chemban Vinod, Kalabhavan Shajon, Renji Paniker as police officers performed so well. Aju Varghese and Manikuttan had very little screen time but the impact they created was significant.

Songs by 4 musics were good except the Punjabi track used as a wedding song. BGM by Ron Ethan Yohaan sets the right mood for the movie. CInematography by N.K Ekambaram was top-notch, many of the shots gave me goosebumps. Editing isn't perfect- there were a few flaws here and there and couple of the scenes could have been trimmed. Sound design team deserves a big round of applause. They had taken care in detailing even the minute of the sounds.
