Onam Reviews 5 in 1... One of the better onams

One week. 5 movies. never planned it but finally watched all in Cochin.

I wish to put the reviews from best to the worst ( strictly my opinion, not based on box office collections)

1. KPAC:

For me, the best of the season. The movie is all about how Ayyappa das and Kochuvva together goes out to fulfill their dreams inspired by Paulo Coelho.
The best thing about this movie is the simplicity in the narration and hats off to Siddharth Siva who proved that still there is room for such feel good movies.

Positives:
lead characters
feel good factor
a likeable twist in the end

negatives:
slow start

rating: 3.75/5... ( deserves a better run in the theatres)

2. oppam:

The movie which is smashing down all records is next in the list. The movie is definitely a good thriller in which we can see Mohanlal the actor after a gap. The movie has a good premise even though the killer is revealed early, it was successful in creating the thrilling elements till the end.

Positives:
Mohanlal
Gripping Climax

Negatives:
Length
Some drishyam hangover.. ( for me those 20 odd minutes in the police cell could have been avoided.. what was the need of that)

rating: 3.25/5... ( hope its collection stays below drishyam..)

3. Oozham:

Jeethu Joseph, who will have to carry the burdern of expectations everytime he makes a movie, has partially been able to justify that.
Oozham in a nutshell is all about revenge. The movie to an extent entertains the viewers.

Positives:
Prithviraj
Was stylish to an extent

Negatives:
Non-linear narration
Climax.. ( he could have explained it like Drishyam.. if there was anything )

Rating: 3/5... ( Jeethu is still to deliver after Drishyam )

4. Oru Muthassi gadha.

Had good expectations from this and Jude has to be appreciated for tackling such a theme.. ( reminds me of Finding Fanny , the deepika padukone starrer..) The movie talks in a different way of old age and the problems and the lack of care we give our grandparents. The movie too comes under the feel good category..

the old flashback love story and its conclusion..
lead actors

negatives:
Forced humour
screenplay could have been better..

rating: 3/5.... ( jude well done and nivin.. story idea ku erikkatte oru )

5. welcome to central jail..

The only movie of the season that fails to impress.. amatuerish attempt.. and man.. the theatre was house full... no other actor can do this with such a pathetic movie..)

very difficult to find any positives:

negatives:
dileep.. the same marykondaru kunjaadu, chakkaramuttu expression.. thanku bore adikunille engane same style
aju, sharafuddin all wasted...
horrible script.. benny cheta....

rating: 1/5... ( oh.. if this was better.. would have been a great onam in theatres..)

still.. i felt the first 4 were all good in their own ways...
