Thoppil Joppan - Ikka in one of his most loved avatar !

Thoppil Joppan is a light hearted entertainer which surely turns out to be a fine one time watch.With a simple theme on board,the movie has nothing much to offer,but indeed entertains you with some nicely worked out comedies,small actions & family elements.The making is simple,with shades of both commercial entertainers & feel-good stuffs,Thoppil Joppan manages to provide 130 minutes of non-boring entertainment.Johny Anthony did an impressive job,the basic plot is wafer-thin,but what managed to overcome that backlog was his making - Simple & Bounded with all lovable cliches.Thoppil Joppan is of course surrounded with cliches,but they are the ones which are liked by the family audience,With Mammukka playing the lead,everyone is sure to enjoy this.


Performances

Ikka in the title role shines like always,He was super cool playing the Achayan character.Ikka is seen in full form,delivering some superb one-liners & enacting a few emotional scenes brilliantly makes it an excellent performance - He was seen in full energy .

Joppan Gang was good,Providing ample support to Mammukka,All the 4 - Sreejith Ravi,Alencier,Saaju,Sohan did their roles smartly.Their combination along with Mammukka is undoubtedly this film's backbone .

Mamta is good,while Andrea was a miscast,especially her dubbing is below par & the scenes involving her did not provide the effect it needed.

Supporting Cast were good.Salim Kumar,Harishree Asokan,Renji Panicker,Kaviyoor Ponamma,Thesni khan & lot others were fine in their respective roles.The one actor who tested my patience was Jude - Substandard Performance .


What's Good

The Performances of the lead cast is indeed the bast thing about the movie.Some of the dull moments were taken to a slightly higher level just because of the energetic performance from Ikka & others.Humour Quotient & Family Elements - Mixing up of these 2 stuffs & providing it in a decent manner always bring crowd to the theater,same is the case with Joppan,they were able to provide a decently executed Family Entertainer.


What Not

The lack of a proper screenplay is the biggest negative,some of the scenes were just added without any purpose.Eventhough termed as a simple entertainer,the screenplay is short is a zero stuff,the lack of substance was evident at parts - mainly in form of dragging.A bit more effort in the writing section could have made this a much better cinema.


Final Veridict

Thoppil Joppan in short is a simple entertainer - A surely watchable cinema !
