Not sure whether the pay cheque is high in mainstream films. Athilum valiya pay cheque okke Parvathykku kittumayirikkum even in low budget films. For example Manju Warrier gets very high remuneration almost on par with some heroes but the films which she plays the protagonist are low budget ones. Cant compare Manju with Parvathy but still oru minimum oru nalla pay thanne demand cheyyum and it will be much more than these super star love interests.

Heroines pay depends on how important her role is. Masterpiece, Kasaba , Madhura Raja Oppam, Pulimurugan pole ulla filmsile heroine athra pay onnum aavashyam illallo.

Because in big budget films anybody can be cast as heroine and nobody cares who is the female lead unless it is something like Odiyan or Lucifer
