TOP SOUTH INDIAN OPENING DAYS - SARKAR SECOND

On Wednesday, we reported how Sarkar obliterated the Kollywood opening records. Those were the early estimates, and now when the actuals have come, things are even better. Vijay starrer opening day in Tamil Nadu come a little higher than earlier estimated ₹29 crore, with film recording a mammoth ₹31.78 crore in Tamil state. This sigma-fy the domestic opening just shy of ₹50 crore, at ₹49.32 crore, second highest of all time in South Indian cinema, just behind of, you know who and beating, you know whose film. Tamil Nadu also become, only second state, after Andhra Pradesh to have a ₹30 crore plus single day.





The growth which Vijay has shown in his opening days is simply marvelous. Just two years back, Theri was his biggest opener at just shy of ₹20 crore, and now he is flirting with ₹50 crore mark, with not so strong contribution from Telugu version. His Telugu market has improved vastly with last two films, which could surprise with his next film, next Diwali.




It is also first time in this century, that Kollywood opening record isn't with Rajinikanth or Shankar. The Tamilnadu opening record has been broken half a dozen time by non-Rajini films but all India used to remain with Rajini as he has much bigger market in North India and Telugu states. However, this feat will not stay longer, with 2.0 tracking for about ₹80-90 crore opening day later this month.
